Oh, come on. You should have fought at least one big deity by now if you went far enough. It can't be that ho-hum by now. That big d00de that goes slap and swat-happy and gets a WARNING! at his tummy area now and then? (Trying to be as vague as possible XD! Too lazy to use the color tag right now :B!). I did like that fight as noted ever-so-vaguely in this post. :DDDDDDDDDDD

Nope! But he reminded me way too much of Gelady from Origin but only in its look and the hand attacks. Otherwise, SEVEN's red monster has a lot more variety in attacks.. XD!
Hold up -- are we even talking about the same boss battle? Cuz, unless I'm pretty sure I haven't fought any dragons yet.

Oh crap, we are not. Now I see which boss battle you are talking about. I consider that boss to be the point where bosses start packing more variety in their attacks so they won't be so ho-hum anymore.

XD!
Currently in wind dungeon~ Ish fun! :D Levelled up twice so far without even deliberately trying. o_O;;;;; I should aim to get everyone to level 30 before taking on the boss here. Just for lulz. Mwahaha. Super-powered characters~!
==============
w00t. Encountered a boss that actually gives me problems.
==============
Didn't manage to get everyone to 30 before wanting to move on. Guh, crazy boss. :B My life would have been easier if I upgraded my weapons. ^^
==============
Decided to beat on the enemy that is Quest 18. I hate the fact that you can accidentally leave the area. >_> Anyway, it hath been defeated! YAY!

Did you get the impression that that boss looks more like an overweight bat than a dragon? I laughed when I first saw it. lol, I did. It really does look like that. That one was pretty disappointing overall. I think if I was rating them overall I'd go:
Earth > Moon = Water > Wind > Fire.
The fire was the worst because it pretty much didn't do anything interesting, at least wind switched around a bit even if it did look like an oversized bat.

The water dragon was the worst IMO because I hated how it hides, attacking from the place where you can't reach it. And when you can hit it, its attacks are really easy to avoid or block. It was too easy and I couldn't even end it as quickly as I liked due to its hiding every now and then.BTW, the moon dragon's second form looks suspiciously a lot like Galba Roa (especially its crouching form). I wonder if these dragons are Galbalans blessed by the Eldeen (like the one Adol rode at the end of AoN).

GOOD LORD.
I got LOST in the water dungeon. >_> Like seriously, my crappy short-term memory kicked in overdrive. It was so bad that even after lowering the drawbridge at the area near the boss and discovering it was a shortcut, I STILL went the wrong way after defeating the boss. :P
I spent far too much time in that place. Geezus. Eh, at least I got some levelling up done for character levels and skills. :P
Oh! Exciting news! I got my first game over! :DDDDDD!!! It was during a solo fight. XD I kept ... not getting out of the way of the monster's roll fast enough. >_> I also had a horrible habit of trying to attack it from behind where the damn creature blocked my view so I couldn't tell where my character was. 9___9 Needless to say, a lot of the attacks hit air. :P
Sad thing is, even when I redid the fight, I STILL did the same thing. I won though! :3
Also! I took the "Earth route" after this part. Got me the party member I wanted. :DDD!
Also also! Giant (regular) monster battles are fun! :D They let me spam skills like no tomorrow. :3
There's unhappy news in all this though -- I somehow missed Quest 12 entirely which I find bizarrely ODD considering I always speak to every NPC at least twice. Guess I didn't do that at the right time? Sigh. I was aiming to get all quests done too. >:(

You didn't hear this from me, but if you bought the game and have been hesitant to play it because you don't want to upgrade your firmware, there may or may not be a fix

Oh! Exciting news! I got my first game over! I got excited the first time I got a game over (second boss), meant the game wasn't going to take it too easy on me. It stopped being quite so exciting the third time I lost to the next boss...

Got it working...
I can't figure out how to use skills though ._. Even after looking in the manual I can't figure it out so I'm still stuck in the training area

Yep, there's a fix now. And because of this, I am now enjoying my delicious Ys SEVEN.
I didn't get to play it for very long, but I'm on the second boss now and I'm pretty impressed. I started on Hard... the first boss was actually pretty hard without potions, but I managed to beat it after about a dozen retries (mayhaps I was underleveled a bit). This is probably the best combat system I've seen in an RPG, as I expected from the start. It's oddly deep, and flash guarding is TOTALLY rewarding, which almost makes me want to stop using rolls to avoid attacks.
If it's this fun already, I can't WAIT for the better bosses.
EDIT: lunar, equip the skills first, then to use them, hold R and press the corresponding face button. Voila.

That doesn't work, but it looks the SP count is redded out instead of being white. Could that have something to do with it? I thought that's what I was supposed to do unless there's something else you have to do first.

... huh. I honestly have no idea why it's redded out. Are you sure you have enough SP to use the skill(s)?

I can't tell, I guess not. Was there something you had to do in the tutorial before you could use skills?

Yeah, you have to beat up the dummy for a bit. And by the way, the only way you'll get credit for destroying the dummy is if you use both characters' skills and a charge attack in the process.

The dummy isn't even there

Well, I think in the first part of the tutorial, you have to equip both characters with their weapons and skills.
