Less than 14 000 units this week (I don't know how much exactly) Ys Seven isn't in the top 10 anymore... (and won't be again) Still, it's a great game eheh

I've heard you guys saying here and there that Falcom was a small company, but I never really had any figures to go by. This certainly puts things into perspective...
For some reason I had this idea that Ys was this hugely popular thing in Japan... but 30000 compared to 220000 with the likes of a Tales port... Much smaller than I thought.

Actually its Hit by Falcom standard because there sells on PC usually be under 10000 range so 53000 unit clearly very Impressive and remind you Falcom don’t advertise there games on Famitsu magazine or Jump they are very small but they are capturing new audience now

See omgfloofy's post and I think they had subway ads too. They're trying to get the commuter's attention, I think and what more perfect way to do that than to put ads on public transportation and their stations?

Huh! Had no idea Falcom was so small and only sold a 10.000 average of their games. Figured they were more popular cause they're quite good at what they do. Really hope the sales weren't disappointing for Falcom at least. Kinda makes me feel guilty I didn't get it, but I'm just so sure this will get localized soon.

One of my friend ordered it lately from an online shop and they can't have a copy of it since 10 days. Maybe Falcom didn't think they could sell so much copies

I don't want to derail this thread too much but here goes. Whenever Japanese games do well in Japan, people on English forums/blogs always go, "now it just HAS to come over here for sure!!!" I guess the mentality is that if it sold well in Japan it will sell well around the rest of the world too, which I don't subscribe to but whatever.
What I'm trying to say is if Ys Seven (or any other Japanese-only game for that matter) doesn't sell well, shouldn't a publisher try their best to push for a localized version that would bring in additional revenue? I understand marketing + actual translating incur additional costs but being a developer myself I don't see how this could compare to a 1.5-2 year of salary for a full team.
All this to say that Ys Seven BETTER GET AN ENGLISH VERSION. OR ELSE.

I think the idea is that a game that flops in Japan isn't likely to do much better overseas, so why spend the time and money to translate and publish it in English-speaking countries if all of that's just going to be a loss? It depends on whether the game appeals more to the American/European market than the Japanese market. A lot of games have sold more in America than Japan, including God Hand (which you should know by now as my favorite game ever).
