I bought a copy of Ys7, but I use Custom Firmware. So, I got the ISO to play.
I did the decrypting, and everthing right.
I am using 5.50 GEN B 2 using m33 driver, but tried everything.
The game loads, plays the falcom logo, and then lets me pick new game, or load..
When I pick new game, it goes black, and then shuts off my PSP.
Can someone help?
Maybe help me try out a saved game to see if it works?

Alerith on hongfire said he got it working. And posted a pic of it running on CFW.
So, I think it should work. I am going to try another game before I update to 5.55.

Yeah, it's working. You have to use UMDgen to make an ISO that will run on CFW but the 17 hours I have on this game are not figments of my imagination and I'm running 5.50 GEN-A

You don't need 5.50 GEN-A for Ys SEVEN to work.
How do I know? Well! I'm running it on 5.02 GEN-A. :P

The most easiest way to have all your games working on your psp is to use an original firmware and not a custom one. Why do you create problems when you can have none ?

Not to mention the total lack of load times. Homebrew. Emulation. Etc..

Not to mention the total lack of load times. Homebrew. Emulation. Etc.. Eh, it's not true for Ys SEVEN though. The load time differences don't seem to be too big between the 1000 and 2000 (with the caching on).

I dont get why when I go to load YS7, when I start a new game, the Psp just turns off, after about 5 seconds of a black screen.
I did all the stuff with patching the game, and I am on 5.50 gen b.
Can someone upload a saved game for me? So I can see if that works.

EDIT: Goddamit, ye killer. xD Therefore I decided to give you a smiley too.

Personally i kept my CFW so I could try and stream Ys 7, but due to my vista 64 bit that seems like it won't be happening.

The most easiest way to have all your games working on your psp is to use an original firmware and not a custom one. Why do you create problems when you can have none ? Biggest reason? A handy little application called IRShell. This was a HUGE help when I was playing Yggdra Union, as I could simply "tab" between two programs, i.e. I was playing Yggdra Union on one "tab", and I could "tab" between a walkthrough (not that that game needs a walkthrough but item collection is ridiculous.) IRShell also has a handy feature where you can mute ingame music and play your own music. Very handy with Persona, since I really don't care for the new soundtrack. Load times too. Man, I remember the first time I accidentally loaded Riviera from the UMD... I thought my PSP had crashed!

Even though it has its advantages, you must admit that you can just blame yourself if you can get a game to start. And most of the time, the persons who create such topic DON'T have the game(s).

Main reason I have CFW is so I can play some old SNES and Genesis games on my PSP. Kinda redundant when I have the GBA versions of the SNES games heh. I ended up having to temporarily trade my cousin for his PSP to play Ys Seven since his has the official firmware. So now I can play the game but I don't got all my other goodies.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm a pirate, but I have my reasons.
Besides, I spent nearly $100 to import ORIGIN. You have no idea how much begging I had to do for that.
Now if only my dad let me get stuff more often. I'm limited to like $50 quarterly. :/

Seriously, until you move out, get a job be a total dumbass with your money. I spent damn near $2k on manga alone when I was 16. Unless you're not allowed... which would be odd! Or maybe you do have a job and your parents are forcing you to save it... which I have heard of before! IDK. Carry on. /end rambling

NO!! Don't spend all your money! Learn to invest money, dammit! Or at least budget because you may regret your crazy spending habits in the future!
*shakes fist at all the silly people that pay oodles of interest on their credit cards*
They all make me rage! GRAR!
In Ys SEVEN news, I have defeated yet another giant boss and back at Segram. Wonder if ~she'll~ be joining the party now? Not that I really care because I don't even use swap in her brother at all. :P
The battle was so full of fail too but I'll talk about it in another thread. XD

Oh, trust me, I have remorse. But I don't have a choice. I think I've talked about it before, too.
For one thing, I've been trying to find a job for the past year and a half. You know what? I can't find anything. I've applied for at least 4 jobs in the past few months, and only two of the applications were even accepted by the computer. Guess honesty isn't a respected trait in the business world.
Believe me, if I had the money, you bet I'd be buying Falcom stuff left and right. But as it stands, I can really only import a game maybe once a year at the most. My parents both hate games with a passion, and they look at me like I'm an idiot if I ask for a budget title, ffs.
In any case... sorry I've gotten us off-topic. This is a really touchy topic for me, though.

If it weren't for that crisis, I'd still have my dream job, and perhaps you would be seeing today a different Red Hairdo. ;_;
Damn company's german roots.
