I started to play this game a few days ago and I have to say, I'm kind of disappointed with Ys Origin being that it only takes place in Darm Tower. I think they should have made the game longer by starting out when Ys was still on the ground, have some storyline to watch Ys rise to the heavens and Darm Tower being built, then the could of ended with Darm Tower. Bad Falcom

I know I was personally hoping YsO was going to be about the events that take place in the books of Ys. Maybe play as Saul Tovah and wrap the game around that. I mean, don't the books end when Ys is lifted into the sky. That's when the game starts.

Yeah no way in hell they will make a sequel. But I sure like playing the characters in YsO much better then Adol.

The moment Aisha joined the team, I ditched Adol immediately. The only time I ever really use him is if his attack type is advantageous against an enemy. XD

I think it's kind of late to start complaining about this. xD Actually, many, many people were disappointed YsO solely took place in Darm Tower. But thing is, I have greath faith this game is AWESOME in its own right. (Please, hurry up, patchy patch! )

DDDDDDD: I never minded that Origin took place entirely in a dungeon. I mean, what am I missing? Going to various towns and chatting with NPCs that repeat their damn useless dialogue over and over? Or maybe pikkards? But not having pikkards in Darm Tower is okei.

I gave it a try or two at kiyuki's and also at another friend's. Pretty awesome game, in terms of gameplay. Prmising in many ways, as well.

Guess I'm not the only one that uses Aisha a lot, then. But yeah. As much as I'll be hated for saying this, Origin is probably my favorite Ys game so far (discounting SEVEN). Though it does get kinda tiring after 8 or so playthroughs.

And I agree with Zoelius and Nunuu, I like playing non-Adol characters a lot. Playing Adol is fun, but it was neat to play as other characters in Ys Origin... and in Ys Seven, I pretty never TOUCH Adol unless I have to. When I got Elk, I used Elk... when I got Aisha, I used Aisha... when I got Mustafa, I used, er, Aisha... and when I got Mishera, I used Mishera... and Aisha. That's one thing that I don't mind in YsO, but I wouldn't want to do it a lot. I like using Adol a lot and can't imagine ditching him for anyone other than occasionally Geiss. I guess I'll have to play Ys7 to see for myself.

Yeah, I can already see my ever-the-same Ys SEVEN party:
1. Adol 2. Dogi 3. Geis
4., 5. and 6. rest

You don't get Geis for a loooong time. Your party will almost always be Adol, Dogi, and another character.

Gotta get around to Ys Seven. Soon. Anyway, back onto Ys Origin stuff~~ XD!! I still don't get why people complained about Origin taking place solely in Darm Tower. It served the narrative very well, and helped keep the focus on the action-- both story-wise and gameplay wise. Annnnnnnnd while I'm generally not one to nitpick about favorites, Ys Origin had the highest fun factor for me out of any of the Ys games I've played. If you want to take that as it being my fave, so be it. I also advocate the usage of non-Adol characters, even though I lurve the little flame-haired sword-swinger.

Well I guess I just hate the fact that the whole thing takes place in one place when you can be somewhere else. I think this is the reason I like Ys 4 a lot because you keep going from one place to another.
But I like YsO alot , its not better then YsF IMO but I think its better then a lot of other Ys games. Multiple characters also added a high replay value.

Proof the poor quality of my sleep as of late is getting to me: that thing about the atmosphere just made me picture the entire cast of Ys Origin trucking around the ruined landscape in archaic haz-mat suits. Don't ask. My head's a funny place to be sometimes.

I still think the opening sequence should of been everyone being all happy with the use of magic and the black pearl then boom the demons come in and start causing havoc, then you fight your way through to Solomon and help the goddesses raise Ys to the Sky, then the demons build Darm Tower, the goddesses seeing that chaos is still happening on earth, send you down and instruct the people to bury Cleria and then you head for Darm Tower and clean out the Demons. Or was Cleria buried first? Either way, something to do with the burying of cleria and Ys being sent to the sky would of been a better for this game. Don't make me bust out RPGMaker and make this idea! LOL! Wouldn't want a Falcom lawsuit though.
