OK I'm severely ticked off at Falcom for this piece of crap game I'm sorry. It's bad enough that they made the dash jump incredibly difficult to do, but in Ruins of Amnesia, it's just plain idiotic. OK, first of all, to have to do something as ridiculous as tap in the direction you want to go and then somehow press jump a millisecond before attack causes a problem when you have to stand on the ledge of something before you jump!! I mean cmon! What were they thinking!? I gave up on the Capala Water, why you have to do something that insane to get something so stupid is beyond me, I managed to get the Bloody Nail and the Galba Hand but you have to be joking if you think you can get the Eldian Orb! That jump is IMPOSSIBLE, not to mention that if you fall, you have to go all the way to the top, do the stupid dash jump to those pillars etc... This is just plain ridiculous. If the Eldian Orb is a key item in the game, then I'm afraid it's uninstall time because this is just nuts. Out of the whole Ys series, I absolutely hate this game. I got as far as Limewater cave before realizing that I missed a ton of crap in Ruin's of Amniesia. Who knows what else I missed... I can't download the trainer either (which I shouldn't have to anyway). Falcom really screwed up on this one I'm sorry... Thanks for letting me rant...

In that case I'm just going to continue without the Eldian Orb. Oh, what about the guys in Limewater Cave, the shadow guys with the red eyes, can you kill them??

Eldian Orb ---> Absolutely useless item if your swords already are at the maximum level. Also, unfortunately, the Dash Jump has been COMPLETELY removed in YsF, Wyrd, and I think so it was in YsO, but I'm not sure. and then somehow press jump a millisecond before attack causes a problem when you have to stand on the ledge of something before you jump!! I mean cmon! What were they thinking!? About this, actually it's happening only because you overlooked something (don't worry, I overlooked it at first, too): There's a button/key that will force Adol to WALK instead of RUN. That can be done in Ys VI, YsF and YsO. But just what the hell would someone use THAT for? Well, there, in Ys VI, in Ruins of Amnesia, to Dash Jump securely, calmly and with precision. Anyway, it's likely the most forgotten command of those three Ys games, so it's normal for one to overlook it. About the Shadow Adol enemy, there are two things to take into consideration: - Your level (you are underleveled), and; - Spirit Fragment or whatever it was called: an item that illuminates the dungeon, shows hidden platforms and turns that Shadow Adol monster into a laser-shooting one.

Ah ok, I'll have to mess with the dash jump in walking mode. Ahh, duh, the rainbow fragment, I'm an idiot lmao...

What controller are you using, if you don't mind me asking. The Dash jump isn't all that hard to pull off, and I've found certain controllers really help.

Also, you don't have to be so precise as to the timing between the attack and jump buttons. Just press them at almost the same time, making sure you press attack first.

Indeed, and using the keyboard is certainly the hardest way. I highly recommend you use a GamePad for it.
By the way, you could try training the timing for the Dash Jump in the fields or something before going to Ruins of Amnesia. Before I kind of had to "observe" how I was pressing the buttons in order to execute the Dash Jump, but nowadays it's automatic and smooth for me.

I said harder, not impossible. xD
(By the way, I really mean ONLY the keyboard, and not with the assistance of a mouse. Just saying. I don't think it's your case anyway.)
Anyway, even if one can easily do so using keyboards, it's still worse: you don't have full control of your direction. (8-direction limit)

Indeed, and using the keyboard is certainly the hardest way. Oh? I can pull dash jumps just fine with keyboard. Maybe I'm a pro. 8-) Ditto. Except I'm anti-pro. :(

Dash jumping is child's play for me. Except that one time in the game where I need to make use of it. Then I can't do it for the life of me. Figures.
