No sweat, it would be bad form to ask a person to hurry up when he's already working out of charity. That's the nice me talking, though. The Ys-hungry me is saying "HURRY! HURRY!"

I don't remember the name, but the boss in the west part of the castle in OiF, the humanoid one that you need to hit with a element corresponding to his color to damage. He always gives me trouble with his random attack combos. Galbalan can be a pain at the higher difficulties too.
Out of the Ys6 engine games, Origin definitely has the best bossfights. Though the final boss isn't very satisfying unless you play on hard or above, where things actually gets a bit threatening and chaotic.
And seconding DoY for having the best bump system bosses. Though I bet a lot of that is because it has the best boss battle theme in the series! Listening to it again as I type this message... DoY really has some nice tunes.

Great Ordeal is great, but my favourite Ys boss battle theme composed by Falcom Sound Team jdk (hehehe) would have to be Scars. No doubt about it.

I agree with Wyrd here, except I can't speak for Ys SEVEN; pending completion, and a listen to the tracks in question. I actually don't know if I've heard ALL of those mentioned -- but obviously I haven't heard the spoiler track yet?
// Also, my hardest boss has been the Ice Dragon (Gildy-locks?) in YsF, on Nightmare. Figuring out the PERFECT strategy for him was perhaps the trickiest thing I've ever had to do! Too bad my HDD died on me before I could, you know, finish Nightmare...

Although not a boss song, Tower of the Shadow of Death is my favorite Ys song.
Ys Origin has a lot of great boss music, but I've never really decided on a general favorite boss theme. There aren't really any boss themes I dislike, though. Even the final two from Ark of Napishtim are okay.

I'm not a big fan of the Darm Tower themes; the boss theme for Darm Tower, as well as Dark Fact's theme, and Dark Fact's battle theme are my favorites, though. My absolute favorite from Ys has to be the one that plays in the Shrine basement floors.

I like Ernst more, but I can appreciate The Depth Napishtim even though it isn't very rock-like at all. I think that's why it gets shunned by many Ys fans, actually.
And yeah, I don't know very many who like Tower of the Shadow of Death, let alone as much as I do. I just really like Darm Tower in general, so that probably affects my decision as well.

Black Ark Unveiled > The Depth Napishtim. I NEVER usually vote beat over melody, but Falcom does it so well and EVIL-LY!

The Depth Napishtim is awesome! Call me one fan who doesn't ignore that theme! It really brings back the synth instrument (Kindof a jazzy sounding one, although not exactly brassy? It doesn't sound flutey, as it's a rather smooth instrument. I always wondered what the hell it was called!) I've become familiar with from Ys Book I & II's TCD days; it plays in the credits of Ys II, I believe. I loved The Strongest Foe as well, so I'm excited to hear that track sometime, whenever I get around to it.

Silent Sands is a great song, I've listened to that a lot on the OST. Maybe someone should make a "Favorite Ys Songs" topic divided into categories. So there'd be one for dungeon themes, overworld themes, battle themes, event themes, shop themes, etc. You could take it further and give battles/final battles and dungeons/final dungeons separate categories too. I dunno, I'm just in an Ys mood right now.

As far as Ys VI tracks are concerned, here's my list: Ernst > Intro Theme > Mighty Obstacle > Galba-Roa theme (?) > Mountain Theme > Defend! And Escape! > Ending Theme > The tunnel before the Ruins of "I wish I could forget how annoying this place is" > Depth Napishtim > Romun Empire Theme (Sounds like it's from Dawn of Ys!)
I disliked the majority of the tracks that I didn't mention here, or didn't feel them worthy enough to mention.

I admit, Ruins of Amnesia did grow on me after a while - but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's one of the best!
Not only is The Fleet Of Romn an arrangement of The Romun Empire, Armored Bane is one of Battle #58, IIRC.

I can't compile a list that's comprehensive enough to warrant creating that topic I was talking about, but I did decide that Beat of Destruction is my favorite final dungeon theme. Because so many games chain Ys I & II together, I just consider Darm Tower a special dungeon, not really a final dungeon. I may have been hasty in saying that ToSoD my favorite song, anyway. I just REALLY like Darm Tower. It was the first time I really got that "Wow, this is amazing" feeling from Ys.

Beat of Destruction is the best Ys track ever, no contest.
Out of boss themes, I'd probably say Vacant Interference.
Dungeon themes? Well, besides Beat of Destruction, perhaps Water Prison or Scarlet Tempest.
Field theme: Windslash Steps. I don't know why, but I love it. Either that or Extensive Forest Green.
Town theme: TRADING VILLAGE OF REDMONT, BEEEYOOOOOTCH!
Final boss theme: Origin's Termination. Some of the best lead guitar work in any Falcom track, and a fantastic atmosphere.
OP: To Make the End of Battle. Durr.
And now I'm out of ideas. D:

I love that one too, definitely my favorite town theme.
By the way, would Theme of Chester (OiF version) count as an event theme or a character theme? I ask because even though it's obviously his theme, I don't know if there are enough characters who have a theme named after them to warrant a category for that. Either way, I like that one a lot, too.

Armored Bane is "Battle #58"? What game features this song, and why aren't I familiar with it off the top of my head?

Water Prison and its various arrangements are beautiful; some of my favorite YsO tracks.

Oh! Wow, I had no idea that it was an arrangement of THAT boss theme -- possibly for the same reason you described! I definitely prefer the original! Great Ordeal? One of my favorites! I prefer the Falcom version to Yngwie Malmstein's blatant ripoff.

If we're uploading video's anyway, I'd like to introduce this song to you. Hope you guys don't mind chiptunes!
To me it's the best town theme ever. Took a while to grow on me, but found myself humming it way too often after wandering through the town a few times. It's peaceful, energetic and suspenseful at the same time! A fitting piece of music for what is your hub to various areas for the first ten hours of the game.
