So now that I'm done with college I had this intense craving for some Felghana Nightmare mode action, which unfortunately did not get remedied due to both the config file and the game exe files crashing my PC running Windows 7 - 64 bit.
Has anyone else managed to get Felghana to run on Windows 7 64 bit before?
If I can't get it to run on that, I still have my XP partition, but lately I've been getting Memory Parity Errors (Blue Screens) when running even basic functions within XP, so I was hoping to migrate the Falcom games over to Windows 7.
It seemed to install fine and I enabled Japanese in the System locale language settings for non-unicode programs.
The version of Feghana I'm running is the DVD-Rom LE version and my computer should be fast enough to scream Falcom games at their highest possible resolution, so that shouldn't be a problem either.
Any thoughts? And thanks for your help!

I bought a new laptop about a month ago that has Windows 7 (64-bit) installed and one of the first things I wanted to try was to see how both Ys I&II Complete and OiF work on it. Ys I&II work mostly overall outside of a few glitches and, as for Oath in Felghana.......it works absolutely flawlessly! It actually works BETTER for me since I can now run it at its highest resolution and it runs without any hiccups. No problems whatsoever when I played the game. Install away my friend and enjoy the super-sharp Felghana again!

Hmm, so no problems when you tried to install it... Hmm. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I'll uninstall it and try again.
Thanks for letting me know that is possible at least for it to work. : )

Edit: Well, tough luck for me then... I still can't get it to run in the least. It's technically running, but only in the background as far as Task Manager states.
So far I've reinstalled it running Japanese system locale, and without patching it or anything of the sort, I've tried running it under that Japanese Locale and still nothing except for CPU memory being used.
Set computer back to English (United States) which is my default setting, downloaded and installed AppLocale using the CMD line (only way I could get it to work). Ran AppLocale and lauched Felghana that way, and still encountered the same problem.
If you've been able to get it to work, is there something you might be doing extra that I'm not, such as a properties settings or something to that effect?

After replying, I realized something. I will admit here that my first copy of the game was a copy but, after loving the game, I purchased a real version of it (Vista version). The thing I now remember, however, is that I never actually installed it using the real disc! lol When I first got the "copy" version, I had issues trying to install it via the AppLocale method and it became annoying to me and I gave up. On a whim, I tried dealing with it the way I did with Ys I&II Complete, which is to copy all the necessary files and folders over and install via that method. Using that method, it worked perfectly. I also installed it this way on my new laptop (My real OiF disc was still on its way here since I moved during that time) and, as mentioned before, it works perfectly fine...

Hmm, that is is a bit strange that that particular process would work, but I'll defintiely give that a shot! It would be great if I could get Felghana to work again.
Thanks for the reply!

I think downloading the update and doing what Doppi and LiquidPolicenaut said about simply copying the Ys_OIF directory off of the dvd rather than through the Falcom installer did the trick and I've finally got Ys Oath in Felghana working on Windows 7 64 bit without any issues!
Thanks for your help everyone!
The only thing now is that since my data was wiped some time ago, I'm missing the unlocked Hard and Nightmare modes. Is there any chance that someone still has a file that they can upload online that I can use to unlock those modes? I've already finished it before on Normal and I wanted to jump right in to Nightmare mode if possible.
Thanks again for your help!
Edit: No problems now. Just found a way to hack the .ini file to show that the game has been finished before on Hard and Nightmare mode is now available to start with.
In case someone else needs to know how to do it, the code was under the [game] section and input as GameClearFlag=2

Glad to hear you got it running properly! Its funny how the same method to install Complete works for Felghana. I still say no need to do all the AppLocale crap...just copy everything, install patch, and play it till you cant play no more!

Hey guys, I realize this is a very old thread but I have the exact same problem SkyeWelse had. When I install the game, either by just copying the files over like liquidpolicenaut did or through the Falcom installer, and then run the .exe, it simply just takes up my CPU and does nothing else.
I try applying the english patch, not applying it, and I get the same results.
If anyone could help me out, I would be greatly appreciative.

Hi all! I'm a new fish in the tank here. I'm trying to get Felghana to work on Win 7 64bit, but no success yet. I've tried all patches in all combinations, installed the game numerous times, and all I get is the "exe stopped working" message right after launch... Any ideas? I've tried the standard 1.2.0.3 patch, the 1.2.0.3 VE patch, NightWolve's English patch, even an old 1.1 patch, tried XP compatibility mode, literally everything, but no success sadly. (Btw Ark of Nephistim runs fine on my comp.) Any help or idea would be very much appreciated, guys!

I'm using a dummycut iso of this game, as I could never lay my hands on the original copy. Everyone can run this version with the patches/tricks mentioned in this thread also, but I can't. And Ark of Napisthim is running from a Japanese iso too. I don't think the problem is about the OiF iso, as it's working for almost anyone.

Well, running the game in x64 bit Windows needs v1.2.0.1 update and after. "grimwing" said he tried v1.2.0.3 but in vain, that is very easy to deduce the cause; Windows 7 has the latest DirectX components for it and Ys VI could not have used it, I think. So I will recommend you to enable Direct Play in Windows 7 64bit after you apply the latest patch v1.2.0.3. For enabling Direct Play in Windows 7 64 bit; www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CMen9zQ9vsIt's worth trying, I wonder.
