Smoething that's been on my mind lately is the idea of beating Ys I & II Complete at the lowest levels possible. While searching for a strategy to make Ys I's Vagullion more bearable at level 7 or 8, I decided to check out the Ys II portion of this site. While browsing the various pages of what seems to be the low-level guide, I came across something about skipping Druegar, but the Japanese to English translator doesn't seem to work too well. The translation of the bug explanation left me scratching my head, so if it's not too much trouble, could someone help me to better understand the procedure (something to do with Time Stop magic, I know that much)? Also, I think it says something about the bug being fixed in a later version, and the screenshots of the bug in action have only the "Eternal" screen layout, so I'm wondering whether or not this is possible in the "Complete" version?

Thanks for the explanation.
That's too bad it apparently doesn't work in the Complete version, but I'll test it myself sometime, just to be sure. In the past, I did try a similar method of skipping him (using the Time Stop magic the first time he appears), but didn't get anywhere with it.

Finally got around to testing this, and Druegar does indeed appear to be unskippable in the "Complete" version. There still may be a way to skip him (and other bosses), but I've no idea how. In any case, I doubt it would be beneficial to skip him, as Zava takes a while to defeat under-leveled.
Interestingly, Druegar's lack of collision detection upon re-entering the battle doesn't seem to be the source of this bug, as that is still present in the "Complete" version, even without the Time Stop magic. Rather, I think it's a case of the boss battle being delayed due to the use of the Time Stop magic. For Zava, Dalles, and Darm, there's a little scene immediately upon entering/re-entering the screen. I don't know about the "Eternal" version, but for "Complete", the cutscenes cancel out the Time Stop magic, so that may be why Druegar was the only boss that could be skipped via this method.

Thanks to Gillian Seed, I now have a copy of Ys II Eternal, and was able to reproduce this bug. Here's a video of the bug in action, in case anyone's interested. Thanks again for helping me to better understand this, Wyrdwad!
