Is it me or was Ys seven fairly easy compared to the other ones ? I got the game about a week now, started directly on nightmare mode (never grinded for bosses) and I did not really have trouble with a single boss ? Only boss I had trouble with was the fire beast because I skipped the earth one (by mistake) and i think I was a little bit underlvled (37,36,36) and I refuse to grind took about 12 minutes . Uploaded every first kill on youtube also I killed the flying chocobo(moon dragon) now and omw to the end boss I think hope that's a challenge..

Um, I had plenty of trouble with the boss in the wind sanctuary (the cockatrice)... but I'd rate the bosses as less difficult than OiF as most of them only took a couple tries my first time through. That being said, they weren't easy either; I still needed to be on my toes. I think having dedicated range fighters and tanks like Dogi to absorb damage along with items made it overall a lot easier.

*SPOILER*!!!!! Yeah my setup was mostly the adol, ranged chick and the guy/girl with the huge weapons for the special/tank I'm at the final boss now but i didn't expect I had to fight with my other characters as well they have such bad weapons and gear I barely do damage so forced to grind mats :F had some small trouble with the dude(second last boss) since I refuse to grind what lvl did u kill the final boss ? nightmare ofc

Everyone is at a different skill level. TT
I'd insta-die on Nightmare cuz I can't flash guard for the life of me. Crappy reflexes and judgement and lack of memory retention means I can never play games on high difficulties. XD
I started the game on Hard after completing it on Normal and immediately found the first few bosses to be a heck of a lot more fun (as I found them pretty boring on the easier mode)~! I didn't continue playing though because other games started distracting me. :3
Off the top of my head, I can't remember which bosses gave me trouble other than the Earth dragon.

The game is indeed easier than, say, Oath in Felghana, but this is counterbalanced by it being infinitely more fun.
Whatever rubs your spot, I guess.

I beat it on nightmare, but I think I may be over-leveled because I keep trying to level up everyone's skill sets to 5 or so and I always try to make sure Adol and sometime Geis are up to level 10 with their skills. It takes forever but the bosses never really pose a problem except for the one I mentioned earlier.
Just checked: Adol, Dogi, and Geis were at 61. Others at 59.

I've definitely had less trouble with Nightmare bosses in Seven than Oath at the same level but that just means I tend to die once or twice instead of five times (fuck you Death Faleon). The only boss I never died on was the guardian of the Fire Temple. Sort of like Demigalva and Orjugan crossed together, which sounds like a recipe for aweseomeness except that his attacks just didn't hurt all that much.
I'll tell you what though, the big lion... thing that Adol has to fight solo after Edona, that thing really prompts you to get good at Flash Guard if you aren't already. After the first 'oh come on' reaction I found it a lot of fun. Then I died. Stupid stunning attacks. After that I retried it and kept working on guarding until I got it down.

That was on Normal mode, though. Well, there you go. :3 If you played on Hard or Nightmare, you'd know that the enemies sort of move differently and are about 238423947 times more aggressive. Dunno if the lion stuns on Normal either. .... But ... am I thinking about Tales or something RPG series where bosses get more moves on higher difficulties? I could swear it happens to Ys bosses too though.

I never once guarded during that fight. I just dashed out of the way a lot, then dashed in for a hit, then dashed out of the way, etc. etc. My thumb was sore as hell at the end, but man was it ever satisfying! That was on Normal mode, though. -Tom It took me two attempts to beat that boss. I do happen to agree that this game has a lower level of difficulty than other Ys games I have played. For instance, I was able to take down the titano you encounter in Altago plains while my levels were in their twenties. As a matter of fact, other than his doing heavy damage with his attacks, he is fairly easy to beat on normal. I would not attempt the greater difficulty levels, though. I do not have the reflexes to be able to take one Hard or Nightmare at all.

And I agree that that enemy is easy because it's slow as hell. I tried to take it on early but after seeing that the characters did around 0 - 10 HP of damage, I just left. :P Besides, the AI party members died on me so going solo while dealing wimpy damage isn't exactly fun. :B

When I was playing JP the boss fights especially felt like they were balanced to be long battles instead of fast and furious ones. It's different but I still liked it
The one difficulty flip that really got me was how human opponent fights (like Geis) are now really easy when they used to give me the most dread in other Ys games.. Chester II, Ernst, I'm looking at you guys

Chester II was the best. I can't wait to try it on Nightmare when I play Felghana PSP! Assuming I can make it to Chester II......

If Inferno is unlocked right off the bat then I'll play that, but if it isn't then I'm saving it for an eventual replay. Actually, Chester II was one of the game's easier bosses for me, so I'm interested in just how much harder he gets since I only played Normal last time. I'm not sure Galbalan is even possible on any mode above Normal, though.

The thing about the PSP version is they added W-Boost, which heals you. So Chester II and Galbalan (who are both WHORES in nightmare of the PC version) aren't too bad, even in inferno. They still suck, but they're both easier.

You died more on Dularn than Death Faleon? God damn that thing was unfairly hard and he wasn't even a story-significant boss.

Yeeeeah... I'm with yotaka on this one. Death Faleon is bad news. Even on Normal it's like a brick wall for me.
I didn't die nearly as many times on Chester II, Dularn II, or Galbalan, all of which were easymodo in comparison.

Death Faleon is pretty tough, but the fire dragon thing is still the hardest boss in the game by far.
I always found Dularn really easy. Both fights.

Re: Death Faleon
I think I have that fight up on my YouTube account. So shameful. OTL
Ahahaha. I do! Oh, woe is me. I didn't try. Honestly, I didn't. :P I guess I should ... like stop running away from the boss and into spikes and all. I think I'll attempt to do better in the PSP version. :3!
And the video quality is shit because this is long before all the HD stuff at YouTube.
Psst. THAR BE SPOILERS IN VIDEO.
Well, more like ... location spoilers? I dunno. :P
