It baffles me as to why Sony barely mentioned any Falcom games when the PSP has such a strong lineup. I think they don't care much about the PSP right now seeing that I think the PSP2 is going to put in the near future. Also, isn't it more the job of the publisher to promote the game? :\ I'm still highly annoyed at the way Konami EU treated The Sword of Etheria for the PS2. Apparently, it got next to no publicity so it was sort of released very quietly and faded into obscurity. >___________> Well, Konami branches all over the world seem to be making stupid decisions in the recent years so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. (Hello, Rock Revolution and Pop'n Music Wii. Granted, I'm pretty sure these games aren't aimed at Bemani fans. :B)

If they were going to announce a PSP2, though, wouldn't they have done it at E3? Plus, didn't they specifically announce there WON'T be a PSP2 at their E3 conference, instead announcing a whole new ad campaign for the existing PSP? I swear I read that somewhere... Yeah but I read that the campaign is lame. :P But I guess that's opinion because obviously someone at Sony thinks it's pretty sweet. I didn't actually bother to see any of the PSP E3 promo stuff myself. Anyone know if it's even taking up much floor space at the expo? I suppose I should have stated that Sony doesn't care about Falcom games. They're still niche in North America and won't be a selling point for the PSP, IMO. If they want attention for the handheld system, they are so much better off pimping Metal Gear Solid and other well established titles. WHEN Ys and Falcom become a household name, THEN they should start focusing on using them as a reason to get a PSP. :3

Yes tis true. The magnificent minds that brought us crying dolls, racist squirrels and white supremacy has finally undone the one piece of good marketing by introducing Marcus Rivers.
There is no "PSP2" atleast not yet. They've just invested in a new campaign and if it existed we'd know. Sony is worse at preventing leaks then BP and telegraphs almost every move. There are few if any surprises from that company.
Yes, its Xseed's Job to promote the Falcom games however Sony should support their 3rd parties, they don't have to but it would help both parties as the PSP dosen't have the RPG support in the west (more specifically the US) that the DS does (in terms of software sales)

Sony should do a lot of stuff but they don't. :B
Sometimes I wonder about gaming companies! To me, it's like they're the ones that form the market and not the other way around.
I just mean that sometimes, there's that argument of "Well, this is what the people want!" I'm sure there are a lot of Madden lovers out there but clearly, there are a huge amount of people that don't play sports games either. :P (Notice how there's always a shit ton of NHL and Madden games in the discount bins?)
Speaking about what people want -- do they REALLY want English voice acting in games? What's wrong with subtitles anyway? I think what they should really be demanding is QUALITY English voice acting but noooooo, people just seem content with the mediocre stuff.
It's all because all they care about is that the spoken dialogue is in a language they understand. >:(!
People should broaden their minds! Accept and appreciate languages from other cultures, dammit!
*rages*
Wow, I went totally off-topic. Damn you, Sony.

Yes, people definitely want English voice acting in games. It's just nerdy people like us who prefer Japanese voices in most cases. And as it happens, it's nerdy people like us who go online and voice our opinion on the internet for a variety of reasons, so there definitely aren't more of our kind, we're just louder.

I think dual audio is great for this reason. I almost always play games with English voices if there's an option, but I know there are many people that disagree. That said, they shouldn't skimp on the voice acting just because there's an option not to put up with it. Maybe get in good with more prolific western voice actors?

Dual Audio is the best solution IMO, but the problems are media space limitations & having the manpower/funding/caring enough to implement and test a menu option to switch the audio tracks.

Maybe get in good with more prolific western voice actors? That costs money. TOT~ Money that companies don't have or don't want to spend. ;;_____;; And probably time is a factor as well since I'd figure they would need to work out schedules and stuff since the prolific ones would definitely be in demand and all that. :(

Plus, didn't they specifically announce there WON'T be a PSP2 at their E3 conference No. They announced the new ad campaign (which is shit, by the way) but they never said there would be no PSP2. They just didn't announce one during the conference.

Maybe they're looking to make it fade away after this early-early 2011? Removing sections for the PSP in stores is a sure fire way to kill the system.
(But are you sure they're not just doing it to rearrange the floor for new stuff? ^^; And aren't there a lot of new PSP games scheduled to come out within the coming months?)
I hope this isn't the case though and it's just stores being dumb! I like my PSPs and think it's a wonderful little handheld device. TT~
Also, I highly doubt the PS3 will go away any time soon seeing that they just had some big titles come out for it (namely FFXIII) with more on the way as well as 3D games and all that. X_x

In terms of processing power, is the PSP still better than the newer DS systems? I know the PSP was originally more powerful than the DS, but they've brought out so many iterations of both portables that I don't know who has the upper hand anymore.

I'm a little less optimistic than I was, after seeing people flip out for the 3DS, and encountering numerous stores around here that have COMPLETELY REMOVED their PSP sections (the FYE near here has a PS2 section - a PS2 section! - and a DS section, but no PSP section). Most shops here have had no (or a small) section for the PSP for quite a while. Europe (or the UK at least) just could not give a crap about the PSP. I guess I really do belong here after all! No TV-Out is so far my only bitch point about the 3DS, but I'll have to reserve judgement on things like the analog stick until I've got my own.

(But are you sure they're not just doing it to rearrange the floor for new stuff? ^^; And aren't there a lot of new PSP games scheduled to come out within the coming months?) Yeah, there's this little title called Birth by Sleep that stores with half a brain might want to consider stocking. I'm guessing it just might be kinda popular. Also, Persona 3 and probably some stuff that other people consider important but I can't be bothered to get worked up over. So yeah, there's no good reason for anyone to drop the PSP section from their shelves unless they're trying to lose sales to competitors come September. Given how both the GBA and PS2 had sections long after the PS3 and DS came out, I don't think that rumors of a new PSP or the existence of the 3DS will hurt too badly. People not knowing these games are coming, a general decrease in purchases due to the economy and gamer apathy due to how sucktastic the last Legend of Heroes releases were overseas are bigger concerns as I see it.

Why do people want a TV-output option for DS/3DS so bad? It's quite obvious that if such a thing existed it would be riddled with problems. First being that the DS/3DS is dual-screen, and second that one of those screens is a touch screen.
It just wouldn't work.

Autostereoscopic is not available for even modern 3DHD capable TVs. Why would they put a TV out when it could cause issues with the big selling point of the system? It's an optional selling point, so who cares? Why do people want a TV-output option for DS/3DS so bad? It's quite obvious that if such a thing existed it would be riddled with problems. No it wouldn't. So? I'm not advocating external controller support. On most DS games the touchscreen is optional anyway.

No it wouldn't. First off, the emulator's screen is the same size as the DS's. Even if you were to make it go fullscreen, it would leave huge borders. Yeah, so does the PSP when you put it on the TV, but the PSP also doesn't have a second screen. On most, but not all. Again with the emulator, it has the benefit of the computer mouse serving as the stylus. For a TV, the only logical replacement would be the Wiimote, assuming it was a peripheral to go with the Wii. On that note, using the Wiimote instead of the actual stylus would probably be far more clunky. The other option is to do what the PSP does, and have the DS serve as the controller, which might work, but then again I've never had to use the touchscreen while staring at a TV before. Anyway, there was a reason why the DSi XL was made and not a TV-output adapter.

Options can be made for such a peripheral: - Top Screen - Bottom Screen - Both w/borders - Both stretched - Maintain aspect ratio Also, the PSP doesn't look half-bad on the TV. Especially if you have it connected to a laptop, full-screen, while the laptop itself is connected to the TV. BAM! Fullscreen PSP! I couldn't be more proud of my setup. As for using a Wiimote as a replacement for the stylus, I'd be perfectly happy with that -- and this is Nintendo we're talking about. We KNOW they could pull it off. Hell, even homebrew communities could pull it off eventually! I like the option of using the DS as a controller, touchscreen and all -- and being able to project it onto the tv so my family could watch instead of crowding over me. I get claustrophobic. As for that last comment, the DSiXL doesn't help everybody -- and I believe a TV-out or even a WiiDS Adapter could prove VERY useful. Oh, not only that, but Nintendo could profit from it.

Yeah, so does the PSP when you put it on the TV, but the PSP also doesn't have a second screen. So have borders. Top half of the TV for the top screen, bottom half of the TV for the bottom screen, borders at the side. Big deal. Again, use the DS as the touchscreen for the few games that require it. Not a big deal. None of the games I have for the DS require the touchscreen at all. Nintendo make more profit off a new DS model than they do off an adapter?

So have borders. Top half of the TV for the top screen, bottom half of the TV for the bottom screen, borders at the side. Big deal. Well, if you think it wouldn't be a big deal, then more power to you, I guess. I'm just saying it wouldn't look good. If some guy decides to make a DS emulator for Wii maybe then we could see it in actual effect, but there is also a reason why when the Phoenix Wright games were ported to WiiWare they used the GBA's layout instead, and why we had to wait some months later for the final case (because it was designed for the DS). Just because you don't doesn't mean everyone else does. I own Phantom Hourglass and that requires nothing but the touchscreen. Plus, one of the puzzles requires you to actually close the DS lid. A lot of the later games are also becoming more geared to using the touchscreen. Yes, but the point is, they could have done an adapter but chose not to. I mean, they made an adaptor for the GBA, but didn't make a GBA model with a bigger screen. So there's something different that had to of changed between the GBA and DS. If you guys seriously want to take a DS emulator and plop it onto a TV, then feel free. In fact, if it works I'd love to play it myself! I'm just being pessimistic/realistic here. There would be problems, and that's why such a thing hasn't been made yet.

Well, if you think it wouldn't be a big deal, then more power to you, I guess. I'm just saying it wouldn't look good. How do you know a 3DS wouldn't look good on a TV? I was watching the conference stream where they showed off Kid Icarus at higher resolution than the 3DS outputs and it looked just fine. I'm not talking about the original DS, because that looks like shit in native res as it is. So don't use it for those. There's nothing wrong with optional features for those who want them. And that something different isn't necessarily anything to do with the screens. Could be that that because the DS and Wii are flying off the shelves they didn't feel the need to bother, while the GC was selling mediocre numbers so the Gameboy Player was seen as an extra incentive to buy one.
