I think my PSP would like like garbage on my 26 inch flatscreen, but who knows? I'm too much of a miser to take the risk to find out by buying a cable.

I'm sure it wouldn't look too bad if you're doing it through your laptop/pc. The latest version of RemoteJoyLite kinda filters games in fullscreen, and they look nice. If you're using an actual PSP-3000 cable, however... you've seen that E3 Oath in Felghana interview with that guy with the buzzcut, right? It wasn't even fullscreen, so I'm not 100% sure it can go fullscreen. That's kind of a buzz kill. // I will say though, I'm less than confident it'll look right on my dad's new high-def widescreen TV.

What does it matter guys? This doesn't exist, and while its nice to dream, why care so much about the logistics of a fantasy? Imagine how you want, and if it ever does come true, enjoy it! If I like the 3DS, I will personally hope that Falcom switches over to it, full time, above the PSP. Yeah, I said it.

Maybe you should stop being old men and stop whining about small screens. I grew up with portables, damnit. D:<

I grew up with portables too! The old piss-yellow GameBoy screens were pretty annoying to look at! Plus with portables, their screens get dirty, scratched (hey, it's inevitable, especially if you move around a lot!) smudged (wiping them off doesn't make it any better) they reflect under bright lights but you can't see them under dim lights, you can't play them at all under sunlight, etc. etc. etc. I was *young* and crotchety. I mean yes, I loved the games that were on these portables, but man were those screens ever annoying! Sure they've seen some improvement over the years, but they're still very annoying!

It's not that I had a bubble to begin with; I just recall hearing that the PSP 2000 and 3000 don't take up the whole TV when using their TV-output cables. Sony should fix that someday, I'm pretty sure it could be done with a firmware update -- because hell, homebrew lets you use any TV-output cable with the PSP 2000, and I recall it goes fullscreen.
I wonder if that's why we haven't heard anything in AGES regarding RemoteJoyLite?

Hey, I know that too. I wasn't saying you were doing something dumb, since you originally just said "Wow, that'd be neato".

All I did was ask why people wanted such a thing in the first place. Regardless, I'd rather change the subject now.

No topic changing! I have the PSP tv cable and the picture is.... acceptable is the best word I think. Not great but not poor looking either. If Nintendo put their mind to it, I'm sure they could rig something up to make it compatible with 2 screens and a touch screen as well. Maybe the wii mote thing, maybe just leave the bottom screen on and accessible. It'd probably have decently sized borders like the PSP does but I don't think it'd detract from gameplay.
Anyway that's my two cents. NOW we can change subjects.

I think they could maybe make a good touch-screen bump system, but bump system works best with buttons, to give you the turning drive with your moves.
If that makes sense?

Maybe in recognition of its superiority as the bump game they'll remake Dawn of Ys in 3d using the bump system and do a second MotS version with the new attack system. ;-)
Also, Falcom's next Ys game on the 3DS? No thanks. It's a new system and I'd rather see a good new game than one where they're trying to learn a new system, especially since that takes time and money that could be better spent on other things. Say, remaking Ys IV and V for one of the systems they already know how to do great things with.

Falcom should try 1st person bump system. THEN Steam will pick it up!

Holy crap. I don't check the thread for a day and then it's full of pissy posts. WTF?
I still don't get the obsession with TV out. I like playing things on the native screen on a portable system and always have.
I do TV out on the PSP now and then when I have to record gameplay but even then, it feels weird. D:!!!
PSP with a touchscreen would be so neat! *___*!! I love use the touchscreen on my cell phone even though sometimes it's hard to hit the submit button on forms without zooming in. :((( I think PSP Web browsing with a touchscreen would have a similar problem.
Buuuut the default size of a Web page is typically bigger on the thing ... hirm ...
3D 1st person bump system, eh? I ... don't see this working seriously but rather as a parody or something. ^^ I suppose it could be like a first person hockey game!
Hip check everyone in sight! Go Team Adol!! w000000000t!

Unfortunately while the PSP is still selling furiously in Japan I can't see Falcom being in any hurry to move on. If they really do intend to keep developing for handhelds they're more likely to wait and see if there's anything about a PSP2 in order to keep as much of their new fanbase intact as possible. Or maybe they'll just make a new fanbase on the 3DS.

That was the reason I bought a PSP last fall! I'm kind of a nintendo fanboy myself, or rather, a Zelda/Fire Emblem/Golden Sun fanboy. I don't care as much about the rest of the company, not that their other games are bad by any means. At any rate, I fell in love with my PSP pretty quickly and like it better than my DS. Though, to be fair, my DS is one of the first gen ones and its bottom screen's pixels shake up and down making my eyes hurt... so I may be getting a 3DS just to replace my shitty one.
Also, I maintain Legacy of Ys is playable. Just, in comparison to the other Ys games, it kind of sucks. It's not bad, the others are really good.

Legacy of Ys definitely pales in comparison to the Complete versions, but otherwise was playable. One thing that did amaze me was the sound quality coming out of the DS. I don't think I've ever voiced in my opinion before ;P
I'm also in the camp of "day one DS owner, bought PSP for a favored game series, and fell in love with the PSP over my DS since then" Dogi Wannabe (I keep almost reading that as Dogi Watanabe), you should get Phantasy Star Portable 2 for your newfound PSP when it comes out in the US. Portland needs more PSP2 players for adhoc games!
