I actually played through the entire GBA version and even did the extra dungeon and stuff. So I should be just fine with the PSX version. Now Phantasian Productions just need to finish that patch and it's go time.

Yeah I know, but PP's has been underway for like.... a long time, so I assume it must have better translated puns or something. But on the other hand, I know throughhim is a pretty pr0 translator, so I'm not sure if I'm waiting around for nothing.

Ah, here we go again.
"Namco Bandai producer Makoto Yoshitsumi mentioned in his Twitter page that something new for the Tales series will be revealed in the July 15 issue of Famitsu magazine -- which suggested a new title. Current rumors stated that is a new PS3 title called Tales of Unitia."
This is from The Magic Box so ...

Yeah, I saw this on the Vesperia board on Gamefaqs, can't say I'm too excited.

What they need to do is develop a new title exclusively for the iPhone so that I can't play that one, too.

He just tweeted that he's done an interview with Famitsu and that people should look forward to the July 15th issue. Didn't confirm it would be a new game announcement. Could just be regarding the upcoming PSP demos for Narikiri Dungeon. I realise I am the only one here hyped as fuck it might be a new Team Symphonia game announcement though, so I'm just going to leave this thread now.

At least it's not to the point of Babelfish crap but still ...

Wow. Other people actually read The Magic Box. I don't anymore. They cover import news better than Kotaku and are about equally slow so I did keep up with them for a bit when I switched to Kotaku but now I don't bother.
My bet is on Tales of We Ran Out of Words to Put -ia Afteria

I realise I am the only one here hyped as fuck it might be a new Team Symphonia game announcement though, so I'm just going to leave this thread now. I'd be quite excited too! I'm not a big Tales nut, and I've actually never played Symphonia properly, but I adored Abyss and really enjoyed Vesperia. I'd be quite happy just to see another PS3 entry with some more of Vesperia's pretty cel-shading. And while I felt that Vesperia was a bit of a step down from Abyss in terms of its actual narrative, it had an absolutely wonderful cast of characters. I'd really like to see what other stories Team Symphonia have up their sleeves~! That being said, I'd be even more excited if they announced that Motoi Sakuraba had been replaced as series composer for said new game. > I actually really like a lot of his non-Tales soundtracks, and I am fond of many of the tracks from Tales of Phantasia, but his work on the Tales series has felt horribly bland to me for years and years now. Aside from the odd nice track, I can't distinguish between any of the recent Tales soundtracks, and I have trouble even recalling them at all. I wish they'd hire someone with something a little more diverse in their repertoire, as I personally put quite a lot of importance on a game's music. Heck Tales of Legendia, while not exactly a brilliant game, had an absolutely beautiful and incredibly unique soundtrack, and I'm sure it's no coincidence that it's lingered in my memory much more than several other much better entries in the series. I think a change of composer would really help the series break away from the increasing perception that every entry is exactly the same, as it doesn't exactly help when they all sound exactly the same. ^_^

Tales needs more Go Shiina. Legendia has a positively gorgeous soundtrack, indeed.

Or they could get JDK to do the soundtrack But seriously yeah, Sakuraba needs to retire. His old game stuff is great, his non-gaming work is consistently awesome, but his new game music is pretty wretched(with exception to SO4's surprisingly great music, particularly the early world map themes and the re-arranges of Star Ocean 1 and 2's music). I want another straight prog album from Sakuraba but I'd be okay if he never did another game soundtrack again. He's making me worry about Golden Sun 3 because the music was one of the best parts of the first 2 games..

Or they could get JDK to do the soundtrack For the record, I would totally be on board with this. I must confess I've not heard a lot of his new work outside of the Tales series, as I think the last non-Tales game I played that he scored was...um...Star Ocean 3, maybe? :'D I did love what I heard of Eternal Sonata, though. I've not actually played the game, but the battle theme, in particular, is wonderful~! Though if the quality of his work outside of the Tales series has degraded just as far as his recent showings in the Tales games, perhaps the tracks I've heard were simply cherry picked. And yes, Tales needs far more Go Shiina. Didn't he compose for that God something game a while back. God Eater? The one that was supposed to be like Monster Hunter, anyway~

I agree, Sakuraba should just stick to making albums. His good soundtracks are GREAT, and I adore his style, but he's just completely burned out on games. Like Lunar, I think SO4 was the last good soundtrack he composed, and the only one I liked after Golden Sun. I don't remember ANYTHING from SO3 or any of the post-Destiny Tales soundtracks (barring Legendia, of course, which needs more love), and Eternal Sonata's, while undeniably pretty, just doesn't appeal to me.
Then again, I happen to think Persona 2 has one of the best soundtracks of any RPG, so meh.

To be fair, the Tales OSTs aren't exclusively Sakuraba's work. Most of the pre-Vesperia soundtracks were done more by Shinji Tamura than Sakuraba himself, and then Tamura was replaced by Hibiki Aoyama for Vesperia's soundtrack. I found Sakuraba's tracks were better than the ones they did (particularly Aoyama's, his work was incredibly dull).
That said I agree he could at least do with taking a long break from soundtracks. I didn't love Go Shiina's work as much as many people seem to have though, Legendia had a few nice tracks but not much seems to have stuck with me.

Holy shit, people who actually share my opinion of Sakuraba.
Anyways yeah, IMO, Golden Sun, Baten Kaitos(both games), and Eternal Sonata were Sakuraba's last really good works. Tales needs more Go Shiina or Kazuhiro Nakamura.

Holy shit, people who actually share my opinion of Sakuraba. It seems like it's pretty much the commonly held opinion these days to be honest. He's been doing like 5 soundtracks a year for a while now, there's no way anyone can keep the same level of creativity up for that long.

Speaking of Tales, the Tales of Phantasia X demo kicks ASS. It's ToP, which was already great, with a battle system that feels like an enhanced version of Tales of Eternia(well really, like a 2D version of Tales of Symphonia)

Music was nice in that though. My last Sakuraba exposure were his pieces for Half-Minute Hero. :B I think there were only two and they were super dramatic. :O
