Seems like I somehow managed to post this in the wrong topic before. >_> I've only played the GBA version of ToP, maybe that's why I don't understand when people say it's the best in the series. I mean, it probably had the best story, but the gameplay was choppy and unresponsive and... ugh. I played the SNES vesrion and the fantranslated PSX one and no,I think Abyss is the best entry IMHO. Anyway, the GBA version is horrible, it ruined the good name of the tales series. Man, I hope you guys at XSEED get an OK on Localizing those, as I always wanted to play the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia. I have the 360 version and I really like it a lot but being able to play the PS3 with the cameo costumes, additional Characters (Pattie & a playable Flynn), plus an updated story would be totally groovy. Of course there's also the other Tales games and I'd love to play those. Like, I REALLY wish we could have gotten the Tales of Phantasia Full Voice Edition in NA, I LOVE Tales of Phantasia. It's my second favorite Tales game, the first being Symphonia. Also, why stop at just the PSP & PS3 ones? why not also do the DS ones? BUT, I'm getting ahead of myself here. I should keep my enthusiasm down until there's news of it actually happening. As far as I know, Bamco always refused to cooperate with independant localizazion companies, with the only exception of Tales of Eternia in EU, published by Ubisoft.

My fav is ToP. I only played Symphonia because of its ties to Phantasia and while I played Abyss, I lost interest and never finished it... twice. (Thrice if you count me losing interest and never finishing the anime, too ;P)
The GBA ToP had one of my favorite glitches ever in it. First thing I did was turn off the voices, but when I got to Dhaos' Palace in the past battles would often become unstable and crash. This happened 3 times in succession to me. On a whim, I reactivated the voices and it let me finish the dungeon. Instead of crashing, I'd just see one of the background layers disappear during combat.
And what the hell Namco?! The new PSP remake of ToP Narikiri Dungeon X has a revamped version of ToP in it, too? Crap, there goes my claim of owning one of each release of ToP.

If I ever learn Japanese, I'm going to play all these games. Vesperia, Graces F, ToPSP and any new Tales games they make that'll never leave Japan. And to spite them, I'm going to pirate every single one!
... except the PS3 games that can't be pirated. v_v

Could someone tell me WHY they think the GBA version of Tales of Phantasia is awful? and in a constructive, non-aggressive sort of way? I seriously haven't found a single problem with that version of the game except that it's sometimes feels a little slow and that the music isn't as great as, say, the SNES/SFC Version but that's a given.

-Buggy gameplay. See my above example about crashing consistently in Dhaos' castle -Bad/hammy/misfitting voice acting. Like steroid-macho Cless and "What is the heck is that?" -A barely upgraded version of the SNES version with the PSX versions graphics, so the PSX/PSP versions are superior as far as battle system, extra story lines, and play controls go

The voice acting was terrible. "IF THERE IS EVIL IN THIS WORLD, IT LURKS IN THE HEART OF MAN."
I also think it felt more than a little slow, but it has been a very long time since I played.

Yeah yeah, 'oh noes! my tales of phantasia has goofy voice overs! what ever shall I do?' bits and pieces of goofy voice over lines aren't really that bad, expecially when you consider games like Lunar SS & EB complete where a good deal of the lines were badly voiced over. (I can't Remember if it's just the cutscenes or more, I haven't played the games in forever.)

Tales games are great though I've given up hope seeing any one of them getting localized... Also, I've been checking out Namco page on Facebook, and wow, fans are going crazy.

...wow that's just crazy! everyone's pretending to be different Tales character or even a few other fictional character that appeared in NAMCO games.

SotN's opening is legendary, ToPGBA's is garbage.... How dare you compare them!
Haha, old chap! @ those Tales fans
Ugh, that dreadful filter got me.

I dunno. "What the heck is that?" is almost as classic, but far lesser known than anything from SotN. What really made SotN legendary is that it was an amazing game despite the hammy voice acting.

you mean like 'Die monster, you do not belong in this world!', a line I find myself using a lot when I'm killing something or someone in a game? XD
And let me tell you, I can pretty much remember every line in the intro, which is pretty sad.

And let me tell you, I can pretty much remember every line in the intro, which is pretty sad. You and most other people who have played it. I even own a t-shirt that says "A Miserable Little Pile of Secrets" on it. Funny how people almost forget there was any other dialog than than opening sequence, but I was also a fan of macho Alucard (actually more macho than ToP GBA Cless) and his "What?!"

Oh please, SotN acting was JUST AS BAD.
The only reason people think it's all awesome is due to the game's supposed awesomeness. (I say supposed because I'm one of the few that doesn't think it's the bestest thing in the whoooooooooooole wide woooooooooooorld.)

Now hold on a second, while I do like SOTN, I don't find it to be 'ZOMG Teh Bestest Evar!!!' or anything. No, that position is currently reserved for Tales of Symphonia in my case.

Tales of Symphonia is just as overrated. :U
See, obviously the best Castlevania game is Order of Ecclesia, and the best Tales game is Tales of the Abyss. Not enough people see this.
