i'd probably go "What" if I was a bigger Castlevania fan.

Well yes, Tales of the Abyss is good, Tales of Symphonia is still better in my opinion. And "overrated" is a very ugly word, I prefer the term, in this case, 'a great game and RPG story for it's time.'
and I agree Tom, these "black sheep's" of their respectives series are actually fun if not for being different than the rest of the games in their series.
Except for Xenosaga II, which is worst than the other two with it's whole "trying to fix something that's not broken, i.e. the battle system, and make it worse" thing that it has going on.

Well, I -love- Tales of Symphonia, but I'm tired of it being pretty much what FFVII is to the Final Fantasy franchise. It's like, Symphonia is the -only- game anybody ever seems to play in the Tales series, and then I keep hearing people talk about how great it is, despite the other games barely getting any recognition. :U

What? Really? Wow. That kind of disappoints me, since I found Vesperia fairly mediocre compared to Symphonia and Abyss.

Actually, I'm one of those who find Vesperia pretty good, it's my third favorite Tales game.

It's technically my third favorite too.
But I've only played four so far though, so...
And the fourth is Radiant Mythology, so yeah.

I've only played Phantasia, Symphonia, Symphonia 2 & Vesperia. I've seen a bit of Abyss, and I've liked what I've seen so far. I've also watched the anime for Abyss which was good. I'm looking to grab a copy of Abyss, Radiant Mythology, Legendia, Destiny, & Eternia when I can, starting with Abyss.

Wait, crap, I forgot that I owned Symphonia 2 and Legendia. Scratch that. Abyss > Symphonia > Vesperia > Symphonia 2 > Radiant Mythology > Legendia

What about favorite character of each game? For me it's:
Symphonia = Sheena Phantasia = Arche or Chester Vesperia = Yuri or Judith Abyss = Tear or Anise Symphonia = Sheena...again

I can't remember if I still have Destiny and Eternia though. I'll have to check when I get home. :3 As for my favourite Tales, it'd have to be Phantasia. :D I like Eternia and Abyss too~

Nay, I be in Ontario~! Should get there quick enough unless you live in the middle of no where like Queen Charlotte, BC.

Well, that's just awesome, I live in Barriere BC, which is close to Kamloops, so whenever you want to send the game(s) my way, just let me know and I'll PM you my address. I'll be sure to pay you back whenever and how ever I can.

Oh please, SotN acting was JUST AS BAD. The only reason people think it's all awesome is due to the game's supposed awesomeness. (I say supposed because I'm one of the few that doesn't think it's the bestest thing in the whoooooooooooole wide woooooooooooorld.) Looks like someone is jealous that Dracula got all the tributes. Simon's Quest is the worst Castlevania game as far as I'm concerned. The village and villagers are a nonsensical mess and the gameplay is hardly a big improvement. The music is nice, though. <3 Bloody Tears. I think Symphonia is overrated. The plot is not very good, in fact I think it's a mass of predictable clichés, and they didn't come together in perfect unison to form a work of art, they came together and formed a big mess. The dialogue is also atrocious in some cases. To put it in terms Symphonia fans will no doubt appreciate, the dialogue is like an ominous light that threatens to engulf us. Gameplay-wise it's not even a contest, Abyss and Vesperia are basically just improved versions of Symphonia. Music is subjective, I like Abyss' OST a lot more, but that's just me. I guess story is subjective too, but I honestly can't fathom how people can say the plot is good. Unlike typical Symphonia-bashing Tales fans, though, I don't think Abyss has a good plot either. I think a big part of why people like it so much is because it was one of the only good JRPGs the Gamecube had to offer so it sticks out in their mind. Also, just to clarify, I don't hate Symphonia at all. I like it. Or rather, I did, until Abyss came out and made it completely redundant for me. Abyss > Symphonia >Phantasia (GBA) for me, as those are the ones I've played. Favorite characters... Asch, Zelos and Chester.

Hah, it doesn't really matter how overrated something is, just how much you like it. I liked SOTN, enough to have a 198.6% rating on it, but then again, I did get Crissaegram so it wasn't really a hard thing to do (although I did get the "water doesn't hurt you" upgrade last, which made it hard to get a lot of stuff, although I did find it eventually). It's the only CV that I've beaten, but I still play the first a bunch. I hate my vendetta against the game, I hate playing other classic style CVs until I kill Daddy D... but first his grim henchman Death, must go! edit: I'm with Wyrd on the Super Mario Bros 2 lovin', like it better than Doki Doki Panic from the brevity I played of the ROM for that. I just find the Super Mario Bros 2 world to be cool, and since I'm way lousy at regular Super Mario Bros, and 3 and World, I find it good to be okay at a Mario game for once. I'm just not very good at platformers, unless they give me whips or guns. And even then I suck edito deux: As for my "Incomparable game" or however you put it... for me... I don't know what my spot for that would be. I'd say Snatcher, but that is barely a game, aside from the lightgun parts, so I can't really put that for "favourite game". Maybe "favourite logic puzzle reaction test story world experience". But I fucking love Snatcher. I'd also say Zone of the Enders, but from what I played of the sequel it gets blown out of the park by its successor. Unfortunately, that was shortlived due to a memory card mishap (a buddy who was living with us for a while accidentally took our memory card when he went home, and we had his here. Oops! I'm hopefully visiting my good buddy soon though, so all will be well... and if not soon, we'll meet again eventually) So there's a Kojima trend, hah, but still... I'd say one of Ikiki's games, but I can't logically do that, since they're certainly not perfect, just some of my favourites. This is hard! Maybe Bionic Commando Rearmed, I really like that game! But that probably doesn't win the prize either... Dammit.

All of them would have been made better by inclusion of Batman.

Incomparable games? The Ace Attorney series (the original 3 and Investigations; Apollo Justice wasn't as good (not that it's bad, it was just gold amongst platinum)). LoZ: Majora's Mask is my favorite game after that, followed by FFX.

hmm, for me, it would have to be....FFIV, Chrono Trigger, LoZ:MM, Tales of Symphonia, Phantasy Star IV, Super Metroid, & EarthBound.
As for your statement on Symphonia HJ, well I do somewhat agree with you on the story, I have to say, it's the cast of characters that I really love about the game, they really clicked with me. a story is only as good as it's cast of characters, and I felt that Symphonia's cast far exceeded it's story. But that's my opinion

Cool, another MM fan. The only ToS character I like is Zelos, but fair enough. Considering you like Tear and Sheena the most, I think we just enjoy very different things in characters.

Off the top of ma head, the only game that is full of pure awesome is Shadow Hearts II/Covenant. Even till this day, no other game gripped me with its story as much as it did. The cast was great too~
I also like Ultima VII: The Black Gate (PC version) a lot but I don't think I have the patience to play it all again. ^^
And wheeeeeeeee. Someone else that likes Zelos. XD Hated using him in battle though. :B But booooooo-urns to Asch. I wanted to punch him out every time he spoke. d00de was eternally pissed off and was far more annoying than Luke was during the party's journey to Akzeriuth.
