Even if you go beyond 50 in Ys II, is there any benefit? I know your HP certainly doesn't rise. Leastways I don't recall it rising...
I know for completionists' sake, if you wanted to max EVERYTHING then the level counts as necessary, but I'm just curious~

Assuming there's no gameplay changes between the "Chronicles" and "Complete" versions, Ys I should max out at level 10, and Ys II is level 55. For the Oath in Felghana (and Ys VI), I think it's level 60, although I've yet to achieve that myself. As for Ys Seven, I haven't played that yet, so I've no idea.
To answer Ashurei's question, I think leveling all the way gets you the last bits of of STR and DEF, as well as an extra point of HP and MP. So, the maximum totals for Ys II Complete are 256 HP/MP, and 257 STR/DEF. In the case of Ys I & II Eternal Story (for the PS2), I'm told your level can go to 99, and apparently your STR and DEF go even higher.
