Spoilers don't affect me, either, because there is a HUGE difference between reading someone's explanation of what happens and actually seeing it for yourself.

There is also a huge difference between experiencing a big twist you've been expecting the entire time and being caught unawares by one. The former just gives me a kind of "oh look, it finally happened... well that was pretty cool" kinda feeling, but the latter gives me a "HOLY SHIT" feeling which is much better.
Well, that said, I don't really mind spoilers for Ys games because... they're Ys. But if someone spoiled an Ace Attorney game or a Sora no Kiseki game for me I would rage.

Shouldn't that be the other way around, considering?
Also, if you want to avoid spoilers I suggest never looking at Falcom's official page for The 3rd. They assume you've played the previous games and even if you can't read a word of Japanese just looking at the Character page can spoil you. Clicking on certain profiles is even worse.

I never go to any of Falcom's official pages anyway, seeing as I'm so inept at navigating them I can't even find my way to the wallpapers section. Not that I even need that, since I have a kickass FFT wallpaper with Delita right now.

The former was pretty much my reaction during my entire time playing Tales of the Abyss, due to pretty much every big plot twist having been spoiled for me.

I'll believe it's coming here when I see a release date. I've seen games before that end up half-finished and just dropped.

So have I, but never from XSEED. Such skepticisms are better reserved for announcements regarding Duke Nukem Forever and the like. Actually, I've never heard of a localization being halfway done and then canceled, only actual game developments, but I'm not saying it hasn't happened. I'm more worried that all the resources spent on it won't pay off at all in the end. I've never seen a series with the odds so stacked against it from the get-go. Associated with games considered to be universally terrible, seemingly generic JRPG by all appearances, PSP game and huge localization costs. Honestly, I can't fathom how this could ever, ever turn out to be a wise business move unless they pull some real magic out of their hats. Depending on the success of Ys over here, they could release Ys vs SnK and bank on people's desire for Ys Seven multiplayer and use the game as a way to get people interested in the SnK characters and universe. That's how Fire Emblem became successful over here (thanks to Smash Bros. I mean). Of course, I have no idea if that would actually work. It might even be a terrible idea.

The thing is, XSEED's games for the most part? Are pretty good. But a title like Legend of Heroes... it isn't going to do well here unless a parent company does some fairly good advertising. I agree with you there. And yeah, I can't remember the titles, but I remember hearing about Konami dropping a few. Tom, not that I'm telling you guys how to do business, but good luck with Legend of Heroes, here's hoping you can turn a franchise around. Advertise. A lot.

I wish the best for XSEED too, in case it wasn't clear. I'm not trying to bring anyone down even though that last post was extremely pessimistic, I'm just concerned because I really like XSEED.

Considering the title they seem to be going with, I think there's a winning marketing campaign they shoud consdier:
TitS: All that's good in RPGs!

Every day, I think someone asks what the hell we were thinking by undertaking a project like this. You were thinking about the fans, and for that, we thank you.

We all thank you, even at the same time as some of us plot your gruesome demise for sticking images of unspeakable depravity in our heads. So, uhh, how many copies of TitS do we each have to buy before ZitS begins to look like a viable project? Or does even suggesting that you handle another Kiseki title after you finish up the nightmare project that is SnK run the risk of driving you insane? Because none of us want that.

You should think about the fans again and localize Half-Minute Hero 2, or Yuusha 30 Second as it's brilliantly named in Japan!

I knew I loved XSEED the moment I played Half-Minute Hero. unfortunately that and Ys seven are the only games of theirs I've played Which is probably why my heart still belongs to NIS, Atlus, and Aksys. XSEED is my fourth favorite localization company, though!
