Well, who's gonna do it? The English Ys community isn't large at all, and the people on the forum who are interested in such things just so happen to be the three who translated for the original team.

Don't assume that everybody who's interested in Ys and speaks multiple languages has the inclination to write about it for your elucidation. By that logic, Uneternalism didn't even exist until his tool was already completed (he introduced it with his first or second post). This creates both an ontological conundrum and a temporal paradox. . . I think the plausibility can be summed up with a mathematical equation a bit easier than QM. No one said a person willing to make a quick patch doesn't exist, merely that it's unlikely. And regardless of what you say, so far my expectations hold true, while yours have already been proven incorrect. So indeed.

But of course! I would consider it just as unlikely as somebody creating a hacking tool for creating such a patch (thus doing half the work) without bothering to tell anyone in advance. I was never so arrogant as to say what would happen, or even what is likely to happen; simply identifying an indicative trend based on what has happened. (and if you read back a bit, you'll see that several people have already claimed to make the attempt, and supposedly run into problems) If you think I'm being optimistic, you seem to forget the primary motives I earlier stated behind somebody making such an attempt: bragging rights/showing up an established translation. Of course, I'd love to be proven wrong. Hell, I'd love nothing more than the original patch to be actually completed.

The hacking part is certain a big part ina translation project...many times is the hardest thing in all the translation process but... once done...there is atill the text to translate. That is to say... we have fully workin' tools from a lot of time ( two years or so) but we are still translatin' the game. Graphics are done ( 277 files to edit wrren't so easy to complete), we are goin' on the translation process. So...if you are so polite and patient to wait for our release it's ok...if not, please, take the game, open its files, and start translatin' it by yourself. Life is not only a faon translation project..it's more... everyone in the team has a family, sons, wifes and husbands a nd a work from which he/she earns money to live. A translation is made of passion, it's not for money...we have to live and to work to live. So... stay calm... you can continue livin' without a translation in the next few minutes or hours and days. Only a thing... you can be sure... it will be released once we will complete it.... this is for sure. bye Bye

If you really want a translated version but can not wait and dont speak the language. Simply use this tool with google translate and do it yourself using this tool. I however am going to wait simply because my Ys game collection is in storage and i dont feel like digging it out just for that. So I will wait till someone else finishes it and is kind enough to share there work.

Umm.... www.figlidigaucci.eu/This group has been working on a patch for the last 3 years. They entered beta about a month ago. Their work will be one thousand times better than someone using this tool and Google Translate.

I believe there were a few people who said they actually tried doing something similar, but ran into problems of some sort. It's a pity, because I really thought someone woul use this to throw us something quick but usable a while ago.
And sadly, there's been no word from Uneternalism(s), who, like some mythological deity, appeared unannounced to throw us some magical artifact, only to evanesce into the ether forevermore.
We've made burnt offerings, but to no avail.

Just learning the Ys Origin translation is in Beta certainly gives me chills.
Now I'm not sure about the details but does anyone know whether they're releasing each character's story one after another (sort of like how Mirror Moon released each story of Fate/Stay Night one by one). Or are they going to release the whole thing? I know this is a long game so more care will definitely be needed.

I'm extremely confident it will be released with all arcs translated at once.

Hi guys I'm actually testing Ys origin Eng Patch. it is really exciting to see all the things completed. The patch works really well. The patch will include all the stories, all the graphics and hackings. If there is here someone who doesn't want to wait, please do his way. We think that using GoogleTranslate will only provide a nasty translation... on the other hand you can choose what you prefer. This is our intention: to release a patch as more perfect as we can do. time is needed to do it...so be patient, please.
