You'll be glad to know, then, that I'm pushing to get a mini-guide for Ys I (self-written) in the Ys I & II Chronicles manual. For nostalgia's sake, you should include hand-written notes and maps drawn by you! And what the heck? The temple was not complicated but Nolita was? I don't think so. I never get lost in Noltia~ :o Oh! I'm currently enjoying the cutscenes at the start of the game in Redmont. Liking everything so far ... except Dogi's voice sounds really forced. And oh God, Margo is coming up soon .... I also didn't really like Elena's seemingly "dreamy" compliment of Adol coming to her rescue. Seemed kind of awkward. ..... ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH. (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻ (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻
(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻I'm sorry. I don't hate Margo's voice acting -- I DESPISE IT. Urge ... to ... mute volume rising .... Oh fuck it. Let me just do that. *lowers volume to 0* I'm extremely glad her voiced lines are limited. Seriously, WHY was she allowed or directed to be voiced like this??? I KNOW I'm not the only one that's irritated by her.

I also didn't really like Elena's seemingly "dreamy" compliment of Adol coming to her rescue. Seemed kind of awkward. It's even funnier since right after that Dogi is like "lol she guna fall 4 u".

No, you're not. And I'd answer if I could, but it would be unprofessional of me to do so. So I'll just leave it at "No, you're not." That emoticon, as an image, is creeping me out. TT I dunno. But I never did! I'll try this time though just for you! :3 Also about getting lost -- After returning from the quarry, I completely forgot do my usual "if the game isn't proceeding, speak to the NPCs a second time!". You see, Elena was the LAST person I spoke to in the town so I didn't realize Sister Nell went back into the church. I assumed she was still outside fretting about the priest. And NO ONE in the town mentions that Nikolas was around. 9__9 As a result, I dashed out of Redmont looking for Father Pierre. >_>;; Ran around Felghana like an idiot and fought my way back to the bottom of the quarry. And when Pierre was no where to be found, I just looked at the walkthrough. 9__9 Funny how things went smoother when I was playing it in a language I didn't completely understand. :P And what's even more silly is that I just finished Felghana PSP a few weeks ago! I tell you, my memory is frighteningly horrible! Speaking about language, some of the words in the dialogue be strange! I mean, just ones that people won't normally use. An example would be Elena saying to Adol that if he feels he can surmount the dangers of the quarry, then he should go and rescue the miners. .......... Who the hell uses surmount in everyday speech? Out of all the characters so far, Dogi seems to have the most normal dialogue. I hope he stays that way and doesn't start bragging how he can subjugate monsters and stuff. (I'm not even sure I used that word properly. XD)

Nunuu, it's Dogi. He's like, the most casual character in the entire series.

...Me? -Tom Who the hell uses "tarry" in everyday speech?! And multiple times, at that. Surmount I at least know. But sheesh something has to be said about playing to the audience. Most people don't like being made to feel stupid, even if subconsciously. ;P

"Tarry" was spoken by McGuire, no? -Tom I didn't catch him using it, but I was referring to Mustafa using it at least twice in SEVEN.

Felghana plays in an ancient time, so they use the old language. but it can be troublesome for some players who are not familiar with the old speak in the English language.

Is 'tarry' really that much of a lesser-known word?

Felghana plays in an ancient time, so they use the old language. but it can be troublesome for some players who are not familiar with the old speak in the English language. Nothing is "old language" about the dialogue. The issue is characters using unnecessary non-everywords in SPEECH. And I'm just talking about written dialogue. Nell saying the dormant volcano in Illburns has erupted anew or whatever is kind of a strange thing to "say" as well. (Hint: no one actually uses "anew" when talking.) Also, wyrd, is there any reason why it can't be explained WHY Margo was made to sound like that? I just want to understand the reason, train of thought, justification, etc. because I honestly can't see any reason for her character to be so over-the-top like that.

The game finally arrived today and now there shall be much rejoicing. My thanks to you, Wyrd.

No, we mustn't Tarry. Rock Howard instead! RAGING STOOOOOOORM!! Once again it looks like Wyrd doesn't know what "linear" means. Sure Shrine of Solomon is linear if you consider that there is only one goal at any give time that will progress the game and oh wait that's exactly what I said about Xanadu Next, calling it linear, and Wyrd claimed that's not linear. Though I'm not arguing if Shrine of Solomon is linear or not, I'm saying it's confusing. The area is huge, there's lots of branching paths, there's a lot of loops which means lots of running around in circles until you get your barrings. Then you have to memorize where some key locations are because there's a ton of running back and forth and they're at far ends from each other. Noltia has a few loops and branches, but Solomon is on a different scale. ...though not nearly as bad as the Bronze & Silver Districts of various versions of Ys IV

Uh, depends on the nun you're speaking to cuz the one(s) at school were pretty damn normal and used everyday words. Ya won't catch one talking about something starting anew!
In a way, I think some overthinking went into the localized script but I guess I feel that way since I'm not all that great with the English language. (In terms of vocabulary, that is. I think I knew more words when I was in high school than now. XD)
But I think I know when something soinds awkward or out of place.

I didn't see anything wrong with the dialogue in Felghana. A "fancy" word here and there, but nothing that really jumped out at me. If I saw some typical dude from Harlem speaking like McGuire I would probably raise an eyebrow, but considering the nature and context of the game, it didn't bother me at all.
Don't make me put my finger on your lips, nunuu.

In short: Go study vocabulary, you slackers! ;) Or how about you study the way other people write dialogue? Melodrama doesn't need odd choices of words! :B I didn't see anything wrong with the dialogue in Felghana. A "fancy" word here and there, but nothing that really jumped out at me. If I saw some typical dude from Harlem speaking like McGuire I would probably raise an eyebrow, but considering the nature and context of the game, it didn't bother me at all. Well~~~~~ I EXPECT Count McGuire or Nikolas or even Chester to be all snooty and use bigass and/or non-everyday words but come on, I still don't think Elena should be using something like "surmount". And hey, if you can complain about filter on this board, then I should be able to whine about word choices in the game! ~.~

Listen to HJ. He speaks the truth. (Also, are you suggesting I dumb things down in order to appease the unwashed masses? Because yeah... I'm not doing that! We have dictionaries, and if people don't know a word, they can USE them!) Not dumbing them down but just ... ergh ... make people talk more like normal human beings. :P Of course, I don't expect everyone to be like Dogi because that'd be extremely weird. ^^;;; And don't tell me to use a dictionary! I've used enough of that when I was reading Wuthering Heights and some other of the older books! Creepy emoticon images!! Away with thee!! Edit~~~ Elena is a polite young lady. In the olden days, proper diction and a meaty vocabulary were signs of a good upbringing, and Elena strikes me as the type of character who would seek to show such signs, out of respect to her parents. Er, did Elena speak like that in the Japanese version too? And isn't that sort of upbringing more for the upperclass? >_> Judging by the way the Mayor acts and speaks, I don't believe Elena would be like that, honestly.

And I totally get the fact that Elena's polite and all but~ SURMOUNT DOESN'T EQUATE TO PROPER AND POLITE SPEECH.
Anyway, there is mad editing going on~~~ ^O^!
Honestly, I'm not as annoyed as I'm making myself out to me. :P Just a few lines in the game have irked me a little so far. I would take it I'll come across some more but I'll rage elsewhere when I encounter those. :P

Sorry, but you're never going to convince me that that was a poor word choice. Because it's not. But she's not living in a "high society". That's my problem. Mwehehehee. I wonder when the next time we'll agree with something will be? XD

Couldn't have been that bad. I'm not complaining about it!
Errr.. I mean something has always bugged me about Elena's character and Wyrd's comment on her being proper brought it back into my mind... WTF she's described as a tomboy growing up but ends up being this mousy worthless piece of kidnap bait for Adol to save and protect repeatedly. Falcom was freakin' lazy with her and probably threw that tomboy thing in when they realized they had just created Lilia again, only with blonde hair. She has the least personality out of anyone in Felghana 'cept maybe Adol, but he's supposed to be the player proxy anyhow.
