Hm, it's very interesting. I'll try to play with it next time But why the status bar is stretched?

Looks like it's still stretching the image out of the proper aspect ratio somewhat-- if you look at the character portrait there, he's a bit squished.
It's a pity; I'd love to be able to have widescreen support on Origin. :\

I'm not holding my breath for it, but I'd love to see it since I have a widescreen monitor.

Yeah, I don't think they'll make the effort either. :P
I mean, the other Win 7 games they have don't have WS support either, yar?

I thought maybe they'd add voices to Felghana at least, but no, nothing. Considering the previous versions all support Win7 as it is, it's just going to be another logo on the box.

Remember when Falcom used to be awesome with their PC releases? Those were the days. Oh yeah. I guess after the backlash against the world's sloppiest port (Chronicles PC, of course), they decided to just leave things as it is instead of doing a decent job this time. Considering Felghana and Origin's Vista editions can be bought for 900 yen new in Japan, good luck to them getting 4800 for these.

It's a pity; I'd love to be able to have widescreen support on Origin. :\ This is proper widescreen. It widens the visible area on the screen to a 16:10 or 16:9 ratio (notice that you can see much more of the room in the wide screenshots). The only thing that gets stretched out is the 2D (HUD, character portraits, etc), since it cannot be manipulated in the same way as 3D. This can be done with all 4:3-only 3d games with a little fiddling. In Dolphin (GC emulator) you can play all old GC games in proper widescreen (but again, with streched out HUD - if it's 2d, etc). It's brilliant.

So, I guess it's a lot more difficult to just reposition the HUD? Unless you could set it as a certain distance from the edges of the screen, you'd probably have to input specific coordinates for each resolution, and that's only if it's possible...
It would be easy enough to set the coordinates for the base of the HUD, but when you count all the variable elements (status bars, equipment icons, portrait, etc.) it'd be a biiitch to do it by hand. That is, unless you can attach those elements' coordinates to the base's code...
Forgive my rambling, I'm just trying to think about this using what very little knowledge I have of coding from using RGSS.

Perhaps if someone has access to the graphics, or there's a tool? One could resize the graphics or alter them according to the appropriate widescreen ratio.
I suppose this widescreen hack doesn't work with Felghana and Neph?
