Legend of the Galactic Heroes is a sort of spiritual predecessor (and by that far superior) to his later work, Tytania. (granted i've only seen the anime for Tytania, but the manga only has 7 volumes going on since 2008, and the novels with merely 3 volumes has been ongoing since 1988)
So needless to say Dr. Yoshiki Tanaka, the creator of both series, takes a good long time writing out his plots.
Even still, i strongly encourage you check out legend of the galactic heroes. For that matter you should see captain harlock.

WAIT!! As for Eureka Seven, I quite enjoyed it. But that's because Dai Sato was involved, and I've loved everything he's worked on. I recently learned there's a new series, but he's not on board, (I want to Dai!) so missing it doesn't feel like as much of a loss. Oh yes, it does, after 9 episodes, i can tell you it does. Though, for what i seen, i started to take the dark route sooner than its predecessor.

I need internet. At least I have the original for rewatching on my HD. but frankly, I'd just be happy to see the second half of Fate/Zero or last two episodes of Mirai Nikki.

Rey, do you have a MAL account? My former resource altered persona and the ratings have all altered or inverted. Shows that were great are now merely good, shows that were good are mediocre, and shows that were bad are now good. (even Baccano and Fate/Zero are now merely "good" and Fate/Stay Night is "average" ) You're now the most reliable source I have available (although I couldn't finish Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagan. . . too silly), so if you have a rated list it would be useful for any future acquisitions. Don't forsee getting internet, but if my sister does I can download to USB, and I've been wondering what good shows have aired thus far this summer.

But i can get one just about now.

So you like gore and such, then I will recommend you MD Geist I & II as well as Genocyber. Mindless slaughterfest with a terrible weak yet functional story. Well at least Genocyber manages to get more 'deep' ( still pretty shallow) around Ep. 4-5. I'd like to tip you about Bastard!! also, I enjoyed it at least. It describes itself as "Dark Fantasy, Heavy Metal" and it's certainly inspired by both. The gore-level is mediocre and the nudity / suggestiveness level is about 60%. A random number I pulled out from the void. Ninja Gaiden OVA which takes place after the third NES game I'd recommend because it's actually good. One I'd really want to recommend is Uchuu no Senshi ( Starship Troopers) which manages to capture the more dramatic feel and uses the original design of Heinlein's power armors. At least I think they were the original design. 6-part OVA. Just listen to this opening song; I'm confused. Isn't Dragon Knight - Wheel of Time a softcore hentai and SNES game? And I never remembered that red haired swordman, only a masked protagonist. -googles- Oh... It was the same. And swordwoman.
