On the topic of the DoY Redbook, "brandonk" has remastered it recently. It's a pretty good effort and I'd recommend it if you want more oomph. N.B. NOT remixed.

Oath in Felghana probably overall has the worst boss themes in the entire series. Ys V says hi.

Get outta here, that song is definitely better than the two generic boss themes in Felghana.

That's not what I mean. I mean the two boss themes that play against generic bosses.

I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about here. I've listened to both of them on the OST. I just think they're boring and uninspiring to listen to. Same with The Strongest Foe.
Are you making some kind of joke I'm not getting?

I would have definitely preferred to hear this over the damnable Behold! >:E As for extremely awesome dungeon themes, while the one for Elderm Mountains was fitting, I don't like it very much at all. I also really really really dislike Snare of Darkness or whatever that tune was for the Abandoned Mines. Oddly enough, having it on the PC88 version didn't cause me to lower the volume. I just ended up ignoring the BGM instead. :P Everything was pretty spiffy, including the fire dungeons ... which is surprising for me to think so because I generally don't like the fire dungeon BGM in Ys games. (Fuck you, Ys SEVEN.)

Hey, don't be dissing the Mouse; He might paint you out of existence or cut you in half with a giant key or something. But yeah, V's boss music just doesn't sound Ys-y (off-topic, what's with that extra Y in the vocal song from Origin SAV anyways?). I think Pain Maker was named for its effect on the audience.

Are you making some kind of joke I'm not getting? No, I'm just saying that the Felghana versions of both regular boss themes feature layered melodies, guitar solos, and other trademark elements of Sound Team JDK compositions. I don't really want to have to bust out the YouTube videos and point out specific parts, but I will if I must. I think we should just agree, though, that you don't LIKE those two tracks, whereas I do. They're not actually bad, and Felghana improved upon them tenfold from their original compositions... you just don't personally care for them, it seems. And while I don't think they're amazing or anything, and they're definitely among the least memorable in the series, I DO still like them, personally, and I think they're WORLDS better than any battle themes in Ys V. -Tom Where did I even deny that they have layered melodies and what have you? Or specifically say they're bad at all?

Get outta here, that song is definitely better than the two generic boss themes in Felghana. When I said this I wasn't calling any of the songs generic, I was merely referring to them as the two generic boss themes because they're the two that play against generic bosses.

I did, but this is how I always describe boss themes if I can't remember their specific names or want to cover several at once, and you're the first person who's actually misinterpreted it. To me it's hardly different from saying Chop is a special boss theme, not because it sounds special but because it only plays during a special fight, or saying The Strongest Foe is the final boss theme.

Yeah, that's true.
And I will admit that my attempt to correct you actually was prone to misinterpretation given the circumstances, so yeah, I guess online conversations do just suck sometimes.

But the asterik-LOL-asterik and Haha, old chap! still don't bother me!
It's just ... these grammatical and spelling corrections that seem strange!
I live in Canada! I must put U's in certain words!
But at least I don't have to worry about center being corrected because I think "centre" is a really dumb spelling of the word anyway.

Hmm, I don't really use centre much either come to think of it...
Too bad I've been brainwashed and put Zs in realised. And, DBZ ruined my pronunciation of the final letter of the alphabet.

I don't think "realise" is as much of a must as "centre" though.
Notice how every damn mall or street or location that has center in its name HAS to spell it in that ridiculous way.
