Looking at how often the VI Engine was used and tweaked after Ark was made, how you think that we'll be seeing the SEVEN in the next game?
Since with the last engine, Falcom ended up doing a remake (Oath) and a new game (Origin) do you think that this one will get the same amount of love? Now I know that Alternative Saga already used a tweaked version of it, but do you think it may pop up again in a remake? Since Falcom never made their own version of IV, maybe there's a chance they'll rewrite the story enough to use a party... What about the new engine Falcom was working on for the PS3, do you think it's just going to serve to add more to the next version of SEVEN, or is it going to replace it?
What do you guys think?

Ys IV would be weird in Seven's style, since there aren't enough characters and the fact that the bosses pretty much relied on danmaku. Danmaku works better in an engine like Napishtim's than it does Seven's.

I do agree with that, and would really love to see the Napishtim engine at least one more time, but I can't help but wonder if Falcom would just pull another Oath and totally remake the game from the ground up. People always chatter about how Falcom never made it's own IV, so I get the feeling that if they did something big with a remake, it would be with IV.

Indeed. Playable Karna would be so frigging awesome you'd have to turn off your PSP every fifteen minutes to make sure it didn't catch fire. Plus, there are already two separate versions of the story, what would one more round of rewrites be in the name of having the most awesome of Ys females by your side?
For using Seven's engine, I could see it working well enough. The dungeons don't particularly lend themselves to jumping puzzles so they could ignore that if they wanted to or keep the Alternative Saga system and either way would work. Ideally they'd limit the equipment and skills to AS numbers and integrate the latter into the puzzles more. Oh, and ditch the consumable items. I want that dark knight centaur... thing to be challenging. Oh, and after they've had practice with human opponents in AS I'll bet they could do really cool things with the Clan of Darkness fights.

Ys 4 remake with Adol and Dogi than Karna taking Aisha's spot as "almost always there" person. Feena and Reah join when you go back to the tower letting you cheese it through. Lilia needs escorting. And I dunno what else

I'm sure Falcom could round up a few more characters besides Dogi & Karna. There is that one guy who used to be a part of the Clan of Darkness(whose name escapes me), & they could probably make up a few new ones for the story if need be!

Duren, wasn't it? Yeah, they could use him if they really wanted more characters. I think Seven only had a party size it did because, well, they wanted seven characters and the story easily accounted for it. IV doesn't really need a huge party; It could and probably would work with just Adol most of the time and with Dogi or Karna tagging along for certain points, then together at the end.
Plus, a limited party to go with a more limited equipment and skill selection would allow them to have a proper Boss Rush since they wouldn't have Seven's problem of too many options to know what the player 'should' be using in any given situation.

If they did a remake of Ys4 from the SNES, I would play it, since I don't relly count the SNES/NES games at all.
If it was the PC engine game, Nope. The newer art style makes me want to puke, all over the place. It is like a slap in the face, to the PCE game. People would buy it, just to say that, oh look I own a game.
However since Ys4 on the PC engine "unofficial" by the standards, I highly doubt you will ever see the game ever released again.
Just get a PCE and stop being a PS3 junkie.

You're still here?
No, you won't see it remade because Hudson made up large chunks of the story. Falcom has no interest in reviving the things a third party invented; when they remake IV they'll stick to their own story.
Also, you'll soon be able to play Dawn of Ys on the PSP and PS3 via PSN so there's a good reason to get those consoles. Neener neener.

The PS3 is capable of emulating the PC Engine. Perfectly. WHILE DOING OTHER THINGS. Therefore, the PS3, as a console, is better. Deal with it, Regalsin. -Tom I am sorry, Wyrdwad Tom. I prefer systems that actually acomplish feats. Not the "now era band wagon". Think bout this, your not even buying physical games anymore. Your downloading stuff, that has no private value at all. A PS3 in a time capsule loaded with downloaded games is worth nothing next to a PCE with a collection of physical games, that are originals. I am talking about the future. The year 2000, when people all dress in flashy reflective clothing, and eats space food, and we mine the moon for metals, no longer found on earth, and a White Castle burger cost 300 dollars a pop. The year 2000, where people are no longer under the spell of Generation Xers and the Boomers lives in glass tubes. In the year 2000 your PS3 is just another modified Foreman grill. My PCE represents the begining of the end, all wrapped up in a cream dollar creme white hard sex inspiring shell.
