- I do not play realistic sports games. If it's silly, cartoony things like the goofy hockey game on the NES where you could make super skinny or fat players, then I'd play it. Hell, I used to adore the Street Sports games on the Commodore 64. (Ah, Epyx. They were a good company.)
I also played a lot of the bowling game in Wii Sports or whatever too. ^^
- War simulations or any simulation games are generally a turn-off as well.
- Realistic flight simulators are a no-go.
- World building, life simulators like SimCity, Civilization, etc. don't get much play time from me either cuz me and micromanagement don't get along well.
- Text-adventures (like Infocom's stuff) don't click with me since I'm not imaginative to solve them without using up far too many turns.
- I will play Mystery/Detective games but will usually need a walkthrough as an aide to complete them. :B
EDIT!! D:
Forgot to add fighting games and racing games.

Turn based RPG games too much time. Wii stuff. like the wrieless, I just feel stupid. Those 3d glasses, stuff. Everybody is playing with those in stores now.
Sports games, I like sports games, but seriously we can get together and go outside. I am not the best novice player. The last game you wil see me buy is a sports game.
Hatvest moon ( RPG ) but seriously I can make my own garden. Facebook crap. I could go outside and buy a goddamn coe and or chicken.rooster.
Ports- knowing hat something was ported, .......... Look at beyond good and evil. IT was a GCN game, and should have stayed that way, but they made the shitty PS2 game, along with PSO on the PS3.
Western Stuff- I mean there are phun, and collectable stuff out there, but seriously, People in the west are like programmers, and the comic book people are the film people, and the animation people are just cartoons. It is like loving an unwanted child sooo hard.
Movie/film/comic game. It really depends. Again the comic book people gives the videogame people th finger, and we are lefr with a pile of shitty E.T. games. All playable but at the same time. They do this everywhere in the world, but most series just annoys me.

RTSes, realistic sports and racing games, and popular FPSes. This, and add typical sandbox games to the list.

:O
Honestly, I kind of stay away from first person shooters too but the only reason I didn't list it was due to the fact that I do play some every now and then.
Once in a blue moon.
It's not a genre I avoid like the rest. :3

/me briefly rises from da dead.
FPS is Sengalese for worst genre that also makes you sick.
Please do not confuse it with the rails shooters.
Also sports games bore me. Though two player, they can be neat.

Hmm... game genres that I actually never touch? Let me think... I don't often play very realistic sports games, including auto racing. I mean, I love Outrun and Burnout as far as racing games go, but I'm so picky about handling that there's a lot I don't play because of that. So I'll put down realistic sports games as well (Unless you count that awesome golf game on Neo-Geo) I don't play horror games because I get heart palpatations from the scary parts. I mean, I'd love to play some of the really scary ones, but I actually can't. I enjoy watching them though! With simulation games, it is much the same, although not for health reasons, haha. I'll watch them, but I can't play them because I'm just so terrible! I'll play Sim City on SNES though, And RTS. Because I suck and hate them. I'm pretty sure that's about it though! I play most things, like fighters, and rhythm games, and lots of action games. I didn't put down FPSs because I make a lot of exceptions, I just hate most of them I do end up playing.

I pretty much agree with everything Smithee said. Especially the part about horror games.

Realistic sports kinda sums me up pretty much. Only thing that I outright ignore.
Can't say FPS because I legitimately enjoy Metroid Prime and Half-Life 2 quite a bit. Two exceptions, though few, are exceptions nonetheless. Hell, I can't say anything else because... well, I'll actually give it a real try before I disregard it. Sports I won't even give the benefit of the doubt. Period.

Realistic sports and sim racers. Arcade racers and crazy sports I can do (RUSH, NBA Jam, etc)
I play pretty much everything else. And while I do play rhythm games like poppin or Gitaroo Man and the like, I don't play Guitar hero/rock band types.

I generally stay away from: - Sports! I don't like watching them or hearing about them, why would I want to play them? There's just no appeal in playing such a repetitious game! - Repetitious games. Yes, that means Tetris and Pacman. If there's no beginning or end, or some kind of story, or SOMETHING to keep making it interesting, then I'm pretty much out. (Tetris Attack / Panel De Pon keeps it interesting AND simple, and requires actual skill! Same with Puyo Puyo / Kirby's Avalanche / Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine -- I LIKE competitive puzzles! Dr. Mario on the other hand is too Tetris-like, and the VS. mode isn't very engaging.) Granted, a LOT of arcade games are repetitive. Donkey Kong has more variation, so it's not too bad. Pacmania -- I think that's what it's called, the pseudo-isometric (skewed) one with jumping added, and a much stronger emphasis on level, musical and graphical variation, all have managed to keep me engaged. Tower of Druaga is good AND bad at the same time -- at least, if you're playing the original version. I'd stick with the PC Engine game as there IS a lot more variation and it's VERY customizable as well, the game's overall design is completely overhauled! - MOST puzzle games. I like some, but they have to be competitive puzzlers at the core. I already covered this before. - Most Shooters. Third-Person, I could probably handle... I DID play through Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire all the way through, but that still left a nasty taste in my mouth. I've played multiplayer Goldeneye 007, but still... I'm not much on gunfights. It's different when I'm playing games like Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, or most anything that has a really engaging story and isn't too realistic or serious. I like SOME "shmups". - Mechs! Yes, I hate mechs, like Anubis/ZOE. I find most mech games to be incredibly sluggish and all too uninteresting. I don't want to fly around. I don't want to shoot at things. I don't want to feel like I'm playing as a really, really sluggish robot walker. I like some speed in my games, faster pacing, really engaging battles... but I don't want to feel like I'm just going through corridors and corridors of enemies with NOTHING else to do. - MMOs! Most MMOs are incredibly masturbatory -- I don't need to say too much more about that. Either they're semi-automatic, or you're just engaging in a constant grind-fest. Watch out for those monthly fees, and hey, I guess EVERYONE loves buying equipment with their own physical cash!! Nevermind the fact that while the games do have stories, more often than not, their stories are incredibly boring and the games themselves have NO ending, or end-boss, or some kind of end-goal. That's all up to the player, and whether or not they FINALLY get sick of the damn thing! - Sandbox games with realistic physics! I strongly detest all games and developers who think it's FUN to play as an average joe! There's no FANTASY in these games, and they're generally too dark and gritty for their own good. James Woods in San Andreas though? Awesome. But no, I honestly don't care about that stuff. If I wanted to fight Crooked Cops and take down the local Sharks, I'd play EarthBound! If I wanted to get shot? I'd put on a brown jacket and walk around my back yard long enough to do so. I can handle "realistic fantasy", but a full-on crash-course, robbing people, killing gangs and cops, complete with crashing cars and falling off of motorcycles, etc.? No thanks. If I wanted to rob a store, I'd play Link's Awakening! If I wanted to ride a motorcycle, I'd play Final Fantasy VII! - Most party games. Granted, I know Mario Party has become less and less about luck, or getting blisters on the palms of your hands from having to rotate the joystick too fast, or being needlessly frustrated by having to RAPIDLY mash combinations of buttons or rapidly alternate between buttons -- but still, I'm just sick of it. Rayman: Raving Rabbids for the Wii, and I guess technically Warioware for the Wii as well, are the last two party games I own, and they're pretty much among the best as far as I'm concerned. OH, and that Chocobo party game for the DS! That was pretty neat, actually!! - MOST RTS and TBS games. I make an exception for Final Fantasy Tactics and Vantage Master. The reason for this is because regardless, I still get bored pretty quickly and almost never pick them back up again. It's not that I don't like them, it's just that I haven't been in the mood, and it's a rare mood for me. - REALISTIC racing games. Yep, I added the word realistic again. You can see I really, REALLY hate realism. Burnout 3 gets away with it, because it has such a fun premise, and the addition of the crash other cars / do ANYTHING that pretty much means you're ASKING to get into a crash yourself, and get rewarded with nitros?! Hell yeah! Any game that encourages reckless behavior and rewards it with intense speed is good in my book! Otherwise, if it's just a plain realistic racer, like Need For Speed (HA, it says it right in the title -- the game itself has a need for speed!! It's too friggin slow!!) it's not even worth my time. - Basically, anything realistic sucks. I figured I'd point out that realistic skateboarding games suck too! Like "SKATE", for instance. It requires TOO MUCH precision and is too complicated and difficult to play!! I'd much prefer to play something like Tony Hawk's UnderGround 2 -- that's the LAST greatest skateboarding game I've played, and it was nice to see some cheesy Jackass/Viva La Bam style antics added into the mix. That should just about do it, I think.

I try to have a "never say never" attitude towards games, but that doesn't really work out unless you have infinite time and moeny So here's my list - Realistic sims of anything - flight sims, sports sims, war sims... just not interested. Anything with a 15+ age rating/questionable content - this is a relatively new one, and it's just because I get a miniscule amount of gaming time without my son in the room. FPSs - they're generally a mixture of both of my aboves these days, but also it's usually not a genre that interests me. VS fighting games - I like them a lot, but I don't get a lot of time to sit with my brother and play them anymore, and I have less than zero interest in playing online.

For some reason I have the urge to mention that there ARE some exceptions to the rule; I mean that is if you count armed car and submarine free-for-alls, (for a brief, every-now-and-then session) I actually enjoyed Twisted Metal and Critical Depth for a time.
