Hi, I recently got Ys 6 on ps2 and am having trouble with the button configuration. Everytime I turn off the game, it resets, and I can't find a way to make it stick. Having X as jump and [] as attack bugs the hell out of me. Does anyone know if there's a way to keep the button settings saved? Or is it just my disc that is out of wack? Since sheesh having to change the controls everytime is slightly irritating. And the weird thing is, is that the game DOES keep my sound settings. Just not the button settings. Also, there's about a 1/4th to half second delay between when I press jump and when Adol actually jumps on screen. Is this just my copy's issue or does it do this for everyone? Since it REALLY messes me up during some of those jumping puzzles. And it isn't my TV or PS2 causing the problem either, since I tried my copy on a friend's console and a non-HDTV and the delay was still there. But yeah other than those two issues, awesome game so far.

Sorry, can't help you with the button question. I just got used to the defaults and never tried changing them. Honestly though, the whole X/Circle swapping in localized games can kiss my *&%*& whenever they don't include the option to change the config and I've played the original version and my reflexes are all screwed up in the localization as a result *cough*BirthBySleep*cough*.
For the jump delay, it's not just your copy. Adol does occasionally feel a bit laggy in the PS2 version. I didn't find it to be too bad after a while, perhaps because even if he controlled perfectly like in the PC version the jumping puzzles would still be the stuff of nightmares.

Do you have any corrupt data on your memory card? The controls in this game are lousy, the jumping issue is something that you'll have to get used to.

A shame about the input lag for jumping, but that's what I figured (the first alma trial had me almost pulling my hair out as I'd get to the edge and just fall off since Adol wouldn't jump on time lol).
And I don't think I've got any corrupt data on my memory card.

It's not really input lag, more like really strange timing required for the jumping. The other controls do their thing right away.

Yeah, EVERYTHING else is fine, there's no input lag. But jumping? I'll press the button (circle in my case) and it'll be about 15-20 frames (assuming the game is running at 60fps) or about a quarter of a second before Adol will jump. Attacking, magic, switching swords, etc all work fine.
EDIT: Also, I was curious as to how long a playthrough of VI is? Seven took me 25 hours or so and Oath took me 15 hours, if that helps.

It took me about 10 hours. I completed YsF in 12, but three of those were grinding for the final boss.

I think I managed fifteen hours or so, counting getting lost in Limewater, finding all the Tabulas and getting the Emelas accessories and grinding for Majunun.
