I thought it was fine, but I'd be cool if they scrap it too. Really, the most important thing is that I can now wave goodbye to the atrocious graphics from the DS version and welcome the glorious 2D graphics once more.
Either way, I think this is cool. I'll be... acquiring this on day one.
However! Despite the fact that I am okay with this, FFIV is just about played out by now. I haven't played V or VI at all, so I want a remake of those next. Maybe on the 3DS.

This is much goodness. I've been wondering 'bout them after years, and I should have a PSP of me very own by the time this is available. Much happy in pants (. . .I mean wallet vicinity).
Also, not playing FFVI = blasphemy. (FFVI is to RaisinD'elicious as FFVII is to Wyrdwad)

Wow, gamers who haven't beaten FF6? I didn't think such people existed! Yeah, I think it's because when I emulate games, I'm usually not motivated to finish them. That coupled with the fact that I find the series to be fairly mediocre in general. >_>

I wonder if they'll actually keep the bonuses from FF4 Advance this time around...
(For those who haven't played it -- the bonus content in most ports tends to be... not that good or interesting, I know, but FF4 Advance added one particularly interesting feature: the ability to actually swap out party members before the final dungeon. Apparently FF4 DS dropped this feature, disappointingly, so I wonder if they completely forgot about it or if they'll actually bring it back.)

Doesn't the DS version have voice acting? I'm too lazy to pulls mine out & check! What's funny, when I originally heard about this, I was disapointed that it was 2D, cuz I wanted it to be all nice & sharp looking next to the DS version, but, then I woke up & was happy realising it's 2D! Yay for 2D!!! Edit-Nevermind, just checked, it does! I personally hope the PSP version has voice acting as well, bring back the days of the Turbo CD & Sega CD! It'd be great if it had anime cinemas as well, but, I highly doubt we'd get that, it'll probably be the standard CGI stuff

Yeah, the DS version had voice acting in it.
I actually hope this comes out to North America, and hopefully with all the extra chapters for The After Years in game, too. Final Fantasy IV was the first Final Fantasy as well as the first RPG I've ever played, so it holds a special place in my heart. I own every version of FFIV released in North America. (well, aside from the Virtual Console Release, but that doesn't exactly count as it's just the SNES version.)

I like how whoever is covering this at Kotaku keeps being butthurt that FF IV has been remade too many times. ....?
From the video looks like it is a port ala FF1 & 2 PSP where they spruced up the graphics and did some minor balance tweaks but with none of the added stuff from the Advanced or DS games.
For me, I like FFIV. I might well call it my overall favorite of the entire series, but dunno if there is really enough to this rerelease to make me want it. I 100% FFIVA, still haven't finished FFIVDS, and haven't even completed the first chapter of After Years WiiWare.

I haven't even really started on After Years. I should do that after finishing FFXIII. I'm afraid to get too into it though as my Wii is a step away from completely totaled, thus requiring me to buy a brand new one. (It refuses to play dual-layered disc like Brawl & Other M and any other game aside from VC, WW, & GCN discs I can get running if I'm lucky.)

Wow, gamers who haven't beaten FF6? I didn't think such people existed! Hi! In all seriousness, I love both V and VI but I just never felt motivated to beat either of them. I agree with HJ, though--gimme a remake of those games instead of FFIV and I'll be sold.

While I'd be happy with the FFIV remake, so long as The After Years has all the chapters included and they don't make you buy them extra, I would also go for a FF V & VI remakes. and for the DS or 3DS or whatever. (yes, that's right Tom, I said DS. As much as I like the PSP, I like the DS more. there's just more good games on it, IMO.)

Poor PSP. The PSP deserves no sympathy, it deserves only punishment for taking potentially good games from their rightful home console homes :l
