I was reading over Elena's post, I remember seeing this article on Wiki about the legend of the real Ys. For those who haven't seen it, the article is here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YsI noticed a lot of similarities between this legend and the game, for example a hero in red, in the game Adol the Red. I think I love both!!

This is why Adol won't settle down: a lovelorn Adol is destined to flood and sink Ys. That'd be kinda cool, actually -- for once, to make Adol an anti-hero.

I actually picked up The King of Ys specifically because I was into the games and was curious what someone elses take on the basic legend would be. I made it about a hundred pages in before giving up and using the book as a footstool. This is why Adol won't settle down: a lovelorn Adol is destined to flood and sink Ys. So who's the princess analogue? Lilia? She doesn't strike me as the type.

So who's the princess analogue? Lilia? She doesn't strike me as the type. She'll be introduced in Ys eight. (they did all caps so now they'll go all lowercase)

Who knows -- everyone is aging and changing, it's never too late for character development! Just as Elena changed from a tomboy to a more proper young lady over the course of Dogi's life, maybe Lilia goes through some changes as well. Seeing as there wasn't introduced any royal family line (just the legends), perhaps she finds herself in a political position. She has to be important *somehow* because Adol had to save her butt TWICE!
Then again, to rescue her twice, only to be the death of her, might be a little hokey.

What? A Dahut in the Ys series? I don't think there's a woman that mean in the games. Well, there's Zava... but yeah, obviously it's not a part of the legend the series is really going to be using.

This is interesting.
As someone who had heard about Ys for the last year and only recently starting getting into it at all, I thought Ys was based off of the legand of Atlantis.

Actually, Ys was based off the legend of Atlantis, which was a metaphor for Avalon, which was a real place that kept the secrets of the lost continent of Mu and... sorry, I just finished rereading Foucault's Pendulum and it's still on the brain.

I must know more about this Avalon. It doesn't have anything to do with the knights of the round table, does it? I always thought "Avalon" (my Avalon) was a small heavenly area with a waterfall, walls of trees, a golden door, and angels. Don't ask, I have some pretty legendary dreams.

Unfortunately, my dreams are the pinnacle of game development. If I disclose too much more information about them, I wouldn't be able to develop anything quite as legendary. Just about everything in my dreams qualify as spoilers.
