I'm trying to debate between which version of Windows 7 to get, but it seems the XP Mode doesn't support 3D. So far, the only game I haven't been able to run on Vista is Wanderwonder, and I've tried a few various DX fixes even from compile themselves. Unfortunately, due to the game's title, it's a little difficult to finding much in the way of a solution. The main problem is the screen flickers and the colors are all out of whack. Compile's suggestion was to use DXWnd, which doesn't solve the issue to any noticeable level.... Would like to be able to get rid of my XP partition in the upgrade if possible.

tancients, I've also toyed around with the possibility of one day getting Wander Wonder to display correctly outside of Windows XP, but I've not had any luck either. I've also never once been able to take a screenshot of the game with any program, built in, or third-party (fraps).
The sad thing is that this is a game that really deserves a full translation for folks to experience it, but if the only system that can run the game is XP, that's certainly a let down...
There must be some way!

I don't have a copy of the game, but you might want to give VirtualBox (which is free) or VMware Workstation (which is... erm, rather pricy) a shot. You'd still need a copy of XP to install and run in it (unless you can convert the virtual machine that Windows 7 uses for its XP Mode), but they support DirectX and 3D acceleration (if you install the Guest Additions for VirtualBox or VMware Tools for VMware). It's kind of overkill for just running one game, but if it works then it'd at least be better than not being able to play it at all.

VirtualBox is ALMOST perfect for me, aside from the fact that I can't get the music to work. A small beef, but it is still beef. I get the SFX in Rayman at best, but no other audio that isn't SFX. Not even in Ecco PC.

I'll definitely give the VirtualBox idea a try. I'd really like to find a way to get this game playable on a newer Windows OS besides that of XP, without having to require that XP be installed. I think in doing so, it will make this game a lot more attractive as a translation project candidate.

I still need to give this a go myself! It'd be handy if someone could take a proper look at it and see if we can work out some sort of patch to get it working on Vista/W7.
