So I beat Vagullian on Nightmare like I said I would After about ten attempts, I triumphed over Batman with the following amount of health left: 123/255 Don't follow the Figure 8 method whoever said that don't listen to that guy, he's nutz. Anyway, it takes skill. I'm making an attempt to acquire all the monster statistics which requires killing the same enemy a whole lot of times, and this is obviously no easy task to pull off in Darm Tower. So, wish me luck!

Well I finally finished Vagullian on Nightmare today in Ys I Chronicles PSP. This took me forever to do and he can seriously dish out the cheese at times. However, I think I fought him enough that I almost beat him and eventually did beat him about 4 times using this following strategy. I just put this together, to help folks who were having trouble with this fight, but then after I did, I forgot to mention that after you've dodged the boss, if you can run as fast as you can to another corner, the best scenario to happen for you is to encourage Vagullian to close his range sooner and fly toward you faster in a clump of bats to fill in the distance. Yet, at the same time when passing over or around Vagullian, you will want to stay close to him and lure him in just close enough to keep him on the same level as Adol, yet with just enough time to escape and go around him. Keeping him close will allow you to train him a bit so that if he does become vulnerable, you will likely be in range to hit him. But the idea is that you want him to cover the distance quickly to one of the four corners of the room so that after you hit him, you will have more room to maneuver around his extended initial range with the bats! Hope this following diagram is helpful to some of you and good luck! Keep at it and you will eventually win! -Thomas

Wow... just wow... The diagram you made Skyewelse is really something I completed nightmare today too and defeated Vagullian with nearly half my health left after about ten tries as stated in my previous post. This will be very helpful but it doesn't have to be that complicated unless... you are struggling like CrazyJoe really nice work and a lot of effort into helping those in need. the only tips I can offer is: * use the D-Pad * don't run into Vagullian, bounce off him and run opposite safest direction(you want to ricochet off him) * anticipate when he will form (get close but not too close in-case he tricks you and expands) once you see that streak of red, run in for the hit. If your too slow or far away, you'll likely miss and take a hit. * be patient and careful, very difficult to do when you find your winning they fight and you start to choke and mess up near the end. That's why I find Dark Fact way easier, the fight doesn't last very long compared to Vagullian, lots of pressure and frustration in this one.

How oddly appropriate for me...I'm just now replaying the TG-CD version of Ys and bat-boy killing me. I remember him being tricky but not THIS tricky. I can't bring him down by more than 1/3, and I can't use my heal potion AND the rings don't seem to work. I really have no idea how I ever beat him once, let alone so many times. Guess I'm just getting old and my reflexes are going in the commode...

Solved my own problem!
I had been playing on "slow" speed since it makes some of the enemies less annoying to deal with. However, I always played on "fast" in my youth, and it turns out bat boy is a lot easier that way. I guess it makes hit and run easier...

Hah, of course I had to try and be a badass (in-character for Adol, I'd say) and play through on Hard on this version. Guess where my first major problem was? Yeah, this guy. I managed to get into THE ZONE and beat him, though, so I'm happy.
Skyewelse, that's an awesome diagram. When I'm feeling up to Nightmare, I'll have to consult it!

I really hate the twin-head boss in the tower for the same reason as the bat. It takes so long to finish the fight on nightmare and it's really difficult to run between the ice/fire swirling around their heads.

And that's one more thing to love about Origin. You'll fight those two and Zava (another much-loathed boss) at the same time. Nothing is quite so satisfying as smacking Zava in the face with a large axe and watching her drop to the floor. If you have time to kill, you can also do in Origin what you couldn't do in I and level up to make the fight quicker.

HEY! What are you implying? I can't beat YsI on nightmare, because I have! Although I never play higher than hard mode on that game anymore, it's just too frustrating. Agreed on the Zava fight in YsO. Video games love to put in flying enemies, but Zava is the only one i can think of that you can literally floor. Very satisfying.

You...you can't do the bats..? Wait, that's not right. I just chase them around and ya use potions and should beat them. That said I havent tried Nightmare Mode.
