In 2006, the Japan Media Arts Plaza had an event where they chose Japan's top arts in four categories: art, entertainment, anime and manga, the same categories used in their yearly festivals. The entertainment category included several video games nominees, and I thought it'd be interesting to take a look at the games Japan thinks are great:
