Question, I'm playing the Chronicles version of Ys 2, & I've killing those guards at the front gate. I think I'm up to 800 or so(not sure, I get confused with the DCCCCXI etc.). I recall playing one version, possibly the PS2 one, where eventually there's no more guards, you've wiped out their entire lineage. Is this true for this version? I'd like to beat the game & move onto another, but, I want to kill all the guards. Tom, are you reading this, maybe you'd know

Wow talk about patience... never heard of killing those guards so many times to the point where they no longer guard Solomon Shrine. I killed those guards on the PS2 version for maxing out my experience, but that's not the case with Chronicles. I never recall reading anything on it before and I know these games very well, so if it's true, I'll be very surprised. But... Jira's Basement could be cleared so maybe you're right.

I'm really confident they respawn forever in all versions; Without the guards, there would be no way into Solomon Shrine eventually. What there might be, though, if for you to reach a "number limit". Like, after killing i.e. 99999999 of them, their names stop changing or so. Anyway, nice idea eitherway though. If there was some way to make them go extinct, I'd do it too. *evil*

I'm 99.9% positive there is atleast one version where you can rid the world of them, & then you just go thru the door on your own. I'm pretty sure it's Ys Eternal Story that did that, as that's one of the few versions I've played all the way thru of the Eternal/Complete versions. I think I mentioned it to Tom before they released it, & I think he said that's not in this version, but, I'm just not sure. The main thing that makes me think it might be, is the numbering system

You could either warp to the Runaways' Hideout, or the Goddesses' Palace. Killing them before getting those warps probably wouldn't be an issue, since don't you need the Cleria Sword to damage them?

Not in the PS2 version. At max level you can even kill them bare-handed. But yeah, I thought of that too...
