In this week's Famitsu, a remake of Ys IV has been announced for Vita. It'll use Ys 7's party system.
SO EXCITED! <3 Need scans now!

"Some new info... it is missing the launch window ( ), set for 2012. It'll have touch puzzles, apparently."

Holy shit yes yesyesyesyes!!! The party system which implies that Karna will not only be an ally but a controllable one just makes it even more incredible.

Just reading about this on Twitter!! Rules! I hope all their music from the JDK Specials is there. And of course it would be newly arranged! Wow, this is just greatness!

Yeah I caught wind of this in another forum and jumped for joy. It will be interesting to see just what they do with the story in terms of fitting party members in and the story in general. Karna and Dogi seem to be the only possibly candidates for the moment, but I wouldn't be surprised if they seriously overhauled this game to fit others in. Bah, this is extremely exciting news along with a slew of other series I've been following lately. The Vita is really getting a lot of love in terms of solid titles, and I can't believe how in a matter of a few days I went from having it off my radar to considering buying it instead of a PS3 as my "this-gen" console. Here's hoping they don't do like A New Theory and get rid of "A Great Ordeal"

There's at least one other possibility: Everyone's favorite not-suspicious-at-all information broker Duren. Beyond those three, yeah, not many good candidates in either version of IV unless they rewrite things or make some new characters. You can't really imagine Lilia as a party member while keeping a straight face after all. Falcom doesn't have their heads shoved up their hindquarters like Taito did; they wouldn't remove a great song for no good reason. Oh yeah, I was thinking about the title. I can think of two reasons they might have picked it. First, it immediately distances the game from both of the previous versions and establishes that this will be something different without sparking debates/riots over including elements from one game or the other (and also to distance it from the putrid mess that was MotS: A New Theory). Second, Celceta, the Sea of Trees has been repeatedly established to be the name of Adol's journal for the Ys IV story so it's quite likely a reference to that as well.

This is the first time in my life I felt like pre-ordering something. Make that 2 pre-orders: the game and consequently the system. ... This might change once I'm less jumpy and more rational days later, though. I wonder if XSEED or anyone will bring it over here!!!!

This is definitely some good news!
I am a little disappointed that it will use the party system, though. I don't know, Ys just seems more fun with only one person to control at a time (not that I hate Ys Seven, but it's probably the weakest series entry to me).

Yeah, I doubt you'll have to work too hard to convince anyone that another Ys game would be a good idea in the light of it being a known series now thanks to you, your existing relationship with Falcom and the fact that unless they seriously go to town on the script it will be blessedly shorter than your existing Falcom-related projects. I am a little disappointed that it will use the party system, though. I don't know, Ys just seems more fun with only one person to control at a time I wouldn't worry too much. This is finally their chance to do an in-house version of Ys IV and I'm sure they want everything to be good as much as we do. I imagine that having experience with Seven and feedback from the fans they'll probably go into this knowing what needs to be done with the party system to make the game better. Things like balancing to make the bosses actually hard rather than 'pile on the HP' hard, perhaps creating more situations where you won't have a party, puzzles taking advantage of the system... However it works out, they won't be coming into it entirely blind. I suppose you could say they weren't with Seven either but if we're just looking at things in the context of the Ys franchise, then they were. Now, I'm hoping that at least the Adol vs Guruda fight will be one-on-one for a similar epic feeling to Adol and Chester in Oath but we'll just have to wait and see. Of course, as far as the game allows it I think that I'll try to complete as much of it as possible with only Karna on general principle.

XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD Hey, I wonder who the white-haired guy is... Duren redesigned? Newcomer? And wow at Adol's new design. I like it, although it seems to be more different than usual: where's all the armor? Hm, and for some reason no character portrait is being shown on the screen, like for the currently-player-controlled one. Also, love that artwork. So beautiful. I imagine the tower shown in it is that Ys IV MotS tower that's similar to but smaller than Darm Tower? (I forgot its name now.) AWESOME STUFF! !

I think the screen is probably preliminary in the same way that Seven's interface changed a bit during development. For one thing, it's distinctly lacking an indicator of ally HP despite bars onscreen indicating that they have separate HP from Adol. Also, Karna with a sword. *swoons*
Oh yeah, Lloyd called and would like Adol to give him his move back. He'd also like to say 'My fangirls are better than your fangirls and it only took me one game' but he then realized that Karna was one of them and decided he'd rather live.

I noticed that too, Yotaka. XD Hopefully Adol can make better use of it! It's completely useless in Zero.
Adol's new outfit is cool~

I saw this topic in the morning, before work, and... eep! I thought I was dreaming! It seems like I was not! What a..... super amazing surprise! Waaa~ Falcom has just singlehandedly made me super hyper for the PSP Vita! ._.' Must save moneys nao! ....PSP Vita doesn't have region locking problems like the 3DS... does it? :'D? That would be most non-fun! The hyper side of me feels like jumping at Falcom RIGHT NOW, and offering all my fortunes, but I'd love to see an English release (and it would make more sense to grab that, rather than one in a language one doesn't understand. .....Unless if Adol nendoroids are being offered, Ao no Kiseki style~). But.... it looks so grand. Is that Karna in the screenshots? With ponytails? Is that even a ponytail, Aisha style, or have I just gone blind from excitement? :'D And Adol's new armours look so nice... *___*~~ As for playable characters.... what was the name of the mister who was turned into a monster and was Karna's friend (boyfriend? woonky minds be making up relationships?!)? Not Duren, right? Anyways~ I wonder if he'd be a playable character~! X'D ......I wonder if Adol will talk?! He did talk in Mask of the Sun, ne? (The only of the two I have played. :'D)

Lemnos? I think the relationship was left pretty vague in the games (the impression I got was just friends), the manga which was very interesting for this Karna fan had them be boyfriend/girlfriend before the plot reaper kicked in and the adaptation that shall not be named made them siblings. At this point Falcom could go anywhere with the guy.

I'll miss Adol's green scarf, but its worth it to take a trip back into his past! Damn, now I'm going to have to buy a PSP Vita after all...
