Eh just another spinoff and the entire team from the series is gone. I would not put much hope in this.

Is it a spinoff? I haven't heard for sure if it is or isn't. I hope it isn't. I liked Tierkreis, but, I want my mainline series. I loved 4 & 5(& Tactics), it's 3 that suffered for more, just couldn't totally get into it.

That's another Tierkreis-kinda stuff The title is "Gensou Suikoden: Tsumugareshi Hyakunen no Toki" and at 0:23 of the teaser the text says "Another story in the many/infinite/parallel/1000000 worlds of Suikoden"

As far as I'm concerned, nothing since III was part of the main series. It's a shame we won't ever see another Murayama caliber Suikoden (only some of the BEST games ever!), but it does look good, regardless.

Oh... mai~ :'D Your post has made me the happiest person on earth right now~ :''''D ....Or atleast just made me choke on my sandwich and is making me want to do cartwheels all over the place. X'D Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa~! A new Suikodeeeeen! X'''''D *random long moment of GREAT excitement!* /o/~! I wonder.... if it is going to be a new addition to the mainline series, or a Tierkreis follow-up. Honestly... *stoned by all other Suiko fans in advance* ...I wouldn't mind a sequel to Tierkreis. I... kind of even liked the story. :'D I think I was just very disappointed because... for one, it was a huge meh after the epic epic storytelling of V, and secondly.... I want my Harmonia story arc! Eitherway! SO nice to see this after all the recent talk of the end of Suikoden. I'm happy with anything! :'D As far as I'm concerned, nothing since III was part of the main series. Hoooi~! What?! A Raison did not end up getting won over and weeping buckets over the Arshtat-Ferid-Galleon scene in V?! X'D Edit: Ooooh! After writing the initial spam of excitement, I finally went to the website and looked at the trailer~! ....My over hyper brain is now hoping for something Flik and Viktor related, as the sir in the trailer is reminding me most of him (Flik, that is~). *kicked and told to go get unnecessarily hyper elsewhere* X'D

IV was the team that was left experimenting with story they had left. V was the team trying to emulate II again with the last bit of story left.
There is no story left besides Harmonia. The creator didn't leave them with future plans, just backstory. So long as Konami continues to respect his creation there will not be a Suikoden VI without his involvement.
And honestly you don't WANT a Suikoden VI without his involvement. Because at that point it's not Suikoden, it's another game with Suikoden in the title.

Was there a particular reason why he left? Couldn't Konami just re-hire him if they really wanted to?

Cronorei has already said pretty much the same thing (with less words), but I already had this typed out when I saw it, so: redundant ramblings for all! Actually, after four years, I . . . don't even remember who those people are! But I DID love the game. . . at first. . . for the first two thirds. Toward the end, I wasn't quite so fond, and while I was quite saddened by the ending I got a certain character died I didn't like the game enough to go through it again and get a better ending. But even if I'd loved it, or any succeeding Suikodens, I'd still opine that the title is an erroneous exploitation. The first three games, all written by the series creator, had certain themes and trends connecting them, and, while covering separate struggles and timelines, were thematically building to something with an increasing dramatic kinesis. --Look at the series' recurring villain as the prime example (note I did not say "antagonist"). In the first game he's made out as something superhuman and extremely powerful, yet you don't even get to face him in battle. In the second game you get a taste of his power and a hint of his driving hatred of the true runes (the series' real central element), and in the third game he hands you your ass multiple times and, (I believe [never finished III]) he's an end boss). After the series creator/writer departed. . . nothing further. The games simply have some of the elements, but abandon the cohesion of the original trilogy-- Wherever the games were going was lost with the brains behind it, and anything that comes after, no matter how good, is just a clone, using elements from the originals for gameplay and the same title for $$$. And I'm not saying a clone can't surpass its carbon copy. . . but that doesn't make it the same thing. //And I honestly don't see any clone, or even a true sequel for that matter, surpassing Suikoden II. It's one of the few games that ISN'T overhyped.

Speaking of Suikoden 2, I wonder, if this new game is localised.....if there'd be any chance they'd go ahead & localise 1 & 2 as well? I have it already, but, obviously in japanese, so I'd have to rely on memory to recall where to go(or a guide). I'd rather play them both in english. I doubt they'll ever bring them over, but, I feel like maybe releasing this new game would kind of goose them into doing it

There is no story left besides Harmonia. I beg to differ. That world map is huge.

Ok there's only Harmonia left that's ever really been important. i.imgur.com/VKMdL.jpgAnd he says he left at exactly 10 years since he joined Konami, and always intended to go freelance by then. Even allowed his name to be taken out of the Suikoden III credits since he left a month before it came out.

Ok, going off that map & my foggy memory, we know very little about the Nameless Lands, Tinto, Nagarea, New Armes, Kanakan, Zelant, Gaien(I don't recall being able to go there in 4), & the whole Western Continent filled with whatever countries, not mentioning Harmonia. There's obviously story behind Yuber & Pesmerga(who could both probably be included in any universe of Suikoden, along with Jeane & Viki). Even then, the map could be extended, there are lands shown that get cut off on the map, & have no name. The possiblities are endless.....like the infinity worlds!

There is no story left besides Harmonia. I beg to differ. That world map is huge. I remember all the stories I read in geography class as a kid. Them were the days. As for Yuber/Pez, and continuing the True Rune stories. . . I'd rather they didn't. If they had notes left behind by Murayama, sure. But they'd just be making stuff up, so I'd rather they just leave the TRUE story unfinished, and do whatever side stories they want in the Suikoden world/other worlds/whatever, as they have been.

Well, so far I will say I like the look of the characters reveal so far. Atleast to me, they seem more mature. Seems like alot of the characters in Tierkries looked like kids, though, I suppose most protagonists in the Suikoden games techinically were kids. the-magicbox.com/1110/game111018h.shtml

Wow, all kinds of limited edition packs coming, including one with a Suikoden encyclopedia, now that truly interests me...maybe me wonder if they'll somehow connect all the games, or what in there. rpgfan.com/news/2011/2463.html

That ultimate ultimate LE pack looks beyond amazing! The price of it doesn't though. ._.'''' I'd love love to get me hands on that encyclopedia and artbook though. As well as the soundtrack! I wonder if they shall once again keep the soundtrack LE and Konami's own shop exclusive though, as they did with Tierkries? If they do, and if I am not able to afford these LE's (or even... just gain access to buying - I hope they are available in a place like Play-Asia.... ), I shall rant most!

So far it seems to be looking pretty okie, ne? ...Then again, I'm probably not the best person to say that, considering how biasedly I loved each one in the series so far. *gets stones thrown at by the others for not seeing the bad from the good* I found translations for the scans here at Suikosource! :'D

Can't believe it's been nearly 10 years since Suikoden III. There were good parts to it, but on the whole, it didn't feel nearly as charming as Suikoden II. It all just kind of went downhill from there. I'd heard that the lead designer quit in the middle of development, not right near the end, but again this was nearly a decade ago, so who knows how true that might have been.
Either way, my faith in Konami is in the red at this point. I honestly wouldn't know how to react if they made a competent title in the Suikoden franchise, let alone Castlevania, Silent Hill or Metal Gear Solid.
Hell, I'm half-surprised they didn't farm this one out to some random American developer.
