A Langrisser MMORPG is in development. For those unfamiliar, Langrisser is a large-scale tactical RPG series, the original most commonly known in the west as Warsong. While it eschews the traditional Langrisser format to play like a typical MMO, the battles are evidently very strategic (and challenging), involving an entire team of hireable mercenaries at each players command. www.onrpg.com/MMO/Langrisser-Schwarz/review/Early-Access-Langrisser-Schwarz

... I personally think the other 2 MMOs you had shown that one time before were more attractive and "innovative" than this one... '._.
But yeah, for people that like MMOs in General, I imagine it might be fun.

It's quite odd that they brought back something like Langrisser just to make another generic MMO :/

Elsword and Vindictus? I think they look better too, but I would never say "innovative," one was just an action RPG online, and the other seemed like a side scrolling Ys. I'm yet to play either. . . and probably won't get around to Schwarz, no matter how much I love Langrisser. It's really a testament to my MMO ignorance that I had no idea having a commandable computer party in strategic combat was an over used MMO staple. For all I knew, it was new and original! *sulks off into the shadows* I still think it looks good (not aestetically, so much) just for the Langrisser elements though. It even incorporates the traditional Langrisser character creation over the standard MMORPG fare, uses the traditional class promotion (so you'll never get bored of who you're playing. Especially if they bring back Rune Stones!), and there's a vastly different scenario for each of the three campaigns (the usual Chaos, Light, and Imperial).

For all I knew, it was new and original! *sulks off into the shadows* Those commandable units really look more like your standard Dynasty Warriors bodyguard grunts than anything that genuinely resembles Langrisser to me, but that's just my initial impression of the game.

Yep, that's why I put "innovative" between inverted commas; I meant to just say they seemed less generic. Not saying any of them or that one are bad, though. Generic isn't a synonym for "bad": I played Ys Online for more than an year and love it. And it did feature a lot of "generic MMO" stuffs.

Did you read the preview article I linked to? I take it as sincere, since biased reviews don't usually say things like, "if a certain function isn't fixed for the final release, it will be broken." Or do newer Dynasty Warriors feature troop class affinities and the ability to issue commands also? *shows ignorance of every DW apart from 2* If so, I REALLY need to get a more recent DW! --I'd assumed they all followed the earlier pattern of beat-em-upishness with no true tactical elements. I'm using that from now on!

Did you read the preview article I linked to? Nope, I just watched videos. I'm not bashing your enthusiasm, I'm just incredibly wary of all these random MMOs that seem to appear out of nowhere.

Is that a no, then? *DW anticipation wanes* And to be enthusiastic, it would have to be a real game! *lynched by MMOers. . . again* I was just aiming to elucidate anyone who might be interested in it. (not to say the tactical implementations don't make me a little interested) The only point of contention was that somebody who had hands on time with the beta made statements about the gameplay, which seems more trustworthy than anything that can be gleaned from a perfunctory glance at a video with hardly any gameplay footage. We won't know until release if it's anything special or not.

Oh just read the damn article, already, and make a judgment based on the game's content! There are cards involved. *nudge* *nudge*

Played this series on the Saturn, it was complicated. The opening of 3 was awesome. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZtjJL4P874Looks like they've really worked on making the new 'grisser an experience.
