Is it supposed to be like that in the original unpatched versions? Once you get the Phoenix Sword, the equipment subscreen lists it in the same space as the axe. Or did you mean the little equipment icon above the health bar? Cycling magics doesn't change that box at all, just the little diamond thingy (as expected).

I mean the one in-game little equipment icon. In the un-translated version that icon would switch to the sword while using fire magic and the axe for earth & wind. After patching it just looks like both icons overlaid on top of each other

Well, if you say that's supposed to happen (I didn't play much without the patch, so I wouldn't know), you should e-mail this to Doppiapunta.
(For what it's worth, I'm playing the 1.1.1.0 version of the game.)

I'm pretty positive thats how it is unpatched, but its been quite some time that I replayed this game.
Anyways, the only complaints I have is proofreading but thats it. I just finished Yunica's story and am now working on Hugo's. (XP with patch 1.1.1.3)

I have the original launch release, patched with the extra disc. I too have a few item descriptions that seem very... awkwardly translated. Only a few things, not all of them. Also, up to Velagunder as Hugo. For some reason, the boss's model has no textures and is just a blank white. The descriptions that aren't quite right are for the Barrier skill, the Lila shell, and the Blue Sky Wing. The rest (that I have so far) seem fine. Did some experimenting to make sure Velagunder's missing texture was part of the patch. Just restored the data files, but not the .exe. All the text was gibberish except for those descriptions. Seems they're being pulled from the .exe for some reason. Velagunder's textures were still messed up too. Using the unpatched .exe, Velagunder's had his textures again. Probably just some weird little differences in the different versions to blame. I just fought the boss as Yunica and same issue.

Whoa, patch of the future! I just fought the boss as Yunica and same issue. Play on 1024 x 768 resolution.

Whoa, patch of the future! I just fought the boss as Yunica and same issue. Play on 1024 x 768 resolution. Didn't work for me. AppLocale does, no biggie. Or if I'm being lazy, I'll just fight it like that. =p

Just installed the patch, and it works great. Playing Yunica's path, now.
So I just wanted to say thank you very much again to everyone involved. You guys are great!

Report: playing at 1024x768, Velagunder was textureless. After applying applocale, problem solved. After that, I used the Lila Shell, and there was some overflow. Ok, back to the game.

Well.. I'm really disappointed...after three years of hard work, blood, troubles and so on..we released origin translation for free and there are users able to criticize or to expatiate on some idiot things. You don't like the patch, please, don't use it, we won't die of sorrow for your decision. You don't like it...why don' you try to make your own patch instead of watin' one’s breath for idiot things. I know this post will remind some old things...but some how I think that guy was sayin' the truth. Despite there are many users who are grateful, happy and write thanks everywhere, there are some idiots who are able to waste all the passion, desire that move our amateur hobby. Think about it guys... before wastin' time for writin' some useless and idiot things.. connect your brain, and be care thta it's well connected. Bye I mod games as my hobby and I get people telling me what I do is awful or not cool or whatever, but you know what? Praise always comes with criticism. If this is truly your hobby, your passion, something you're proud of, you don't take the low road and tell people they suck or they are morons or idiots or don't have a brain. It's funny how you said "if you don't like it, make your own" because that silly dare was made to me once a long time ago, and that's what got me into modding to begin with-- because, as it turned out, I WAS better than him. While I respect that you love your work that much, I don't respect that you feel the need to flame anyone that doesn't like it.

Thank you for the release. A bit of a pain to get installed but that's OK. The game looks awesome and the translation looks pretty good too so I think it'll be worth it. Going to spread it around. Will be giving credit where it's due though as I don't like taking credit for things I didn't do.
PS: I pass these words of wisdom onto you, "You can't please everyone. No matter what you do, someone will always find something to be upset about. So don't try as you'll just be wasting your time." <-- paraphrased but I hope the message gets across.

I don't know what errors people are reporting directly to doppi, but I'll just post a few, in case people missed them (Yunica's path).
1) When you meet Epona for the second time (I guess when she summons the first boss), she says "bookwoods" (I think that was the word) instead of "backwoods".
2) When Feena's explaining thing in Rado's Annex, she says they had to "busy" the cleria, instead of "bury".
3) All the text overflow I've noticed happens either when you talk to people on the first floor, or when you use the Lila Shell. Haven't tested throughly, but I think it happens throughout the game.
That's it, then. Cheers.

That stuff's already been reported by me, but it certainly doesn't hurt to have it verified by others (after all, I'm bound to overlook something).
Hmm, I guess I'll post my full reports whenever I finish Toal's route (probably tomorrow).

You're going to make reports about the three routes? It'll be cool when you post it, so we won't report things twice.

so if you have an ISO you can't use the patch? Correct! Unless you buy the game, no patch for you! ;3 See also: unless the game is 16-bit or under, 1996 or earlier, you will not get help here. In other words, we will not help you pirate Ys Origin. I hope you can understand.

I like jumping to conclusions and making malicious accusations as much as the next guy , but anybody who's ever played a DVD-in-drive required game on a laptop knows that ISOs are a MUST! (it's really infuriating when the disc spinning is twice as loud as the characters telling you what you have to do next!) I'm sure that's what he meant. Right Adama? Anyhoo, if it's not too presumptuous of me to offer assistance to people who -might- be playing off their homebrewed backups: updating with the bonus disc should really fix any possible problems, and if not, using the EXE mentioned earlier in this thread (from Neogaf--do a goolymoogly) would probably fix any problems, just like it does for the pirated free Groupon version.

Alright, here's the list of errors, typos, overflowing text, etc. I reported to Doppiapunta for the three routes (see attachment). It's quite a long list, but I'm sure some things slipped past me (at the least, I'm currently missing six "Character" entries, so I'm not able to verify those are error-free). Anyway, the file does contain story spoilers to help clarify where the stuff occurred, so if you're concerned about that, you probably shouldn't look at this unless you've finished the game.
