This' probably already been said, but the run-on text issue is not a resolution problem (playing on recommended res), it seems to be a "word wrap" type issue.
In most dialogues, only the left half of the box is used, and the text is "stacked". "Hello. I am Speaking now."
In the instances where the text runs off the screen (and it seems entire segments of dialogue are cut off), they speak only on the top line. "Hello. I am speaking now. Gee, I sure hope my dialogue doesn't run off the scree
On the bright side, as of midway through Yunica's route, I've only seen this in optional dialogue (returning to characters when there's really no essential reason to).

Yeah, that seems to sum it up. Playing with Yunica, all the instances of overflowing text I've seen were when I talked to people on the Search Party's base and through the Lila Shell. I guess it would be best to revise all dialogues in these two situations.

So that text overflow still happens even in 1024x768 res?

Yeah, but as pointed out by others, it's (mostly) during optional dialogue.

Its been a while since I've been on here and just decided to see what was new. Wow I wasn't expecting this. Thank you very much to all who where involved. I bought this game years ago while I was still in college and never did anything beyond install it and run it once. Its great that I will finally get to play the game. I still need to get around to playing Ys seven and Felghana on psp, and I still havn't bought the psp remake of I and II. So it will be a little while still but I still had to say thanks.
I did have some problems in the beginning because of the "data disc" I did read the readme but had no clue what that was so I just decided to hope that my clean install was of the right version but it wasn't so I came here and got it all sorted. After tracking down the data disc everything worked perfectly.
Thanks again.

Yes, but it's a commonly known fact that Farcom's Engrish is not very good, and Extra disc IS a romanization of the Greek word "Bonerusu" which roughly translates to "superfluous data" (in French; the English translation would be " " ), so calling it a "data disc" is really just correcting their bad Greek to Frenglish.

Um... I'm sure this has been said (infact I think I saw it being said, for sure, in another thread - I didn't have the courage to look into korzic's report. Don't want to get spoilt. :'D), and I'm sure Raison probably did mean this (ne?), but the instance in which I saw the most text running off the screen was when I was playing in the recommended settings. :'D When I switched for a while to 1024 x 768, each time I returned to the Base, most of the dialogue went running off screen. Oddly, when I played in my screen's native resolution (1366 x 768) the same dialogue fit in perfectly. :'D So now I'm playing the game all stretchily (and managing to read almost all. There still are some [very few!] texts trotting off the screen though. :'D)

Playing in 2048x1152 (what my screen and video card run at), the game looks very sharp, text is spaced evenly, and no run off. Just my experience though.

I didn't mention it in the .txt file, but my monitor's max resolution is 1280 x 1024. While the text did look better in some instances, even with that setting it still went off-screen (well, there were was one instance where it stayed on, I think), so I switched to the recommended settings for most of the report. I guess maybe my monitor's just too small?

Alright, here's the list of errors, typos, overflowing text, etc. I reported to Doppiapunta for the three routes Marvelous work, that captured every single one of the items I reported on Yunica's route, and some that I had observed on Hugo but hadn't reported. Great job!

Just finished the game for the first time with Yunica, and loved it. Now going through the game with Hugo, and enjoying again. The English patch has made the game that much more enjoyable for me.

YAY! Six years of long waiting finally over ^^ Great work dopi and everyone else and thank you for your hard work.. What a great timing! Patch released and I got kicked from army.. Now I don't have to struggle there waiting I get to play some Ys Time to plug my game pad and start- wait.. waiting.. my bro took my game pads while I was in the army :/ Well.. I have waited for this day six year, I guess I can bear few more days too.. But, got a question. Should I play Hugo or Yunica path first? or play both at the same time or what? (I hate when I have to make choices like this..)

lailmith: as the characters' descriptions say at the selection screen, Hugo's recommended for novices, and Yunica for regulars. That's because Yunica plays a lot like Adol, so if you played the previous Ys games you'll know how to play with her, while playing with Hugo's a little easier because of his long range attacks. Anyway, if you want the whole story (and the chance to play again with a third character), you'll have to play both routes, so chose whichever you feel like.
korzic: I think doppi addressed this issue in his last post. It seems you get babelfish descriptions depending on something (don't remember exactly what).
Also, I think I caught something korzic didn't report: at the character selection screen, it says "Thor".

Also, I think I caught something korzic didn't report: at the character selection screen, it says "Thor". IMO that's not an error. It's the rest of the game that has his name typoed as Toal

Mantis Medallion Medals received from the Cecillia To put a sharp ???, carved figure of Evil is Zan. Mine was like that too. Doppi said it would be fixed but if you can't wait try to get it updated to 1103. Somehow after several failed attempts I actually got mine updated and the item descriptions are correct now. I have the original xp discs updated with the extra disc that was linked in this forum then eventually updated with the patch directly from falcom's site.

Korzic are you talking about the links on the neogaf forum? I downloaded both the megaupload and mediafire as well as the original patch. All three have the same checksum.

Hmmm, so what caused the translated script discrepancies weren't where the English Patch got downloaded from, but rather on which version it is applied to. Interesting.
