When you Finally get to the top of Darm tower, you fight the final boss, His theme song... (Only version I could find...) A distinct part of the song sounds like a distinct part of... Ironically... They Both have 3 Forms Its 90% its unrelated, but I couldn't resist.

Well, the original version of Over Drive predates the entire MMX series (much less X5) by six years so... Also that's not the real final boss of Origin

I wouldn't call it even a coincidence, because if so, then it'd be like saying Mega Man ripped off Falcom's Xanadu first, since you can use projectiles as well. These concepts are more of a "public domain" thingy, so to speak. While Mega Man is known for the shooting, it's far from being the first!

I'm chalking that up to coincidence if anything. In both songs, that section is only a minor part that gives way to the main melody. Although the Origin version of Overdrive did put extra emphasis on that part, it's still only minor. In the Sigma Mix, It plays a little heavier of a role, being a main part of the song then giving way to the second main part before it loops again. It's just an example of using the same few notes in a drastically different effect. As for the whole Metroid similarity. Well, the Ys get item theme is pretty much IS the Metroid theme. Or rather, it's the background melody of the Metroid Item theme, just raised a higher pitch. You can hear it best from the NES version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpAB3kkIXg4
