Whats your favourite old anime? Mine is Saiyuuki Starzinger which came out in about 1976, it was released on video here as 'Valley of the Flame Dragons'. I also love Ulysses 31!

Iria. It was my second anime (after D ), and really brought me into the fold. To most people, it probably didn't age so well, but thanks to the nostalgia factor it's still one of my all time favorites.
It also ensures that Adol is only my -second- favorite redhead!

How old is old? Iria is from 1994. Most of the earliest stuff I like is from 1995.. I guess Bubblegum Crisis started '87 and Record of Lodoss War OVA was '90. I've seen older stuff like Speed Racer, Voltron, The Little Prince, The Mysterious Cities of Gold (tried to rewatch that now that it is on Netflix streaming... ouch), Eagle Riders, and Saber Rider & the Star Sheriffs but I can't say I can stomach to watch any of it anymore.
Remembered that I did watch the original Gundam and Zeta Gundam. Those were good.

Ugh. I've tried to stomach 80s anime, and simply can't. Nothing about it feels like anime to me. I remember Netflixing Macross with anticipation because I'd heard so much about it. Got through a whole episode. . . and a whole half episode.
And on that note *WARNING WARNING* RAISON TANGENT* WARNING WARNING*
the cartoons my nephew watches have made me realize just how far American animation has come. There are shows these days which easily parallel anime quality (in production anyway), which I found quite surprising. Some even have more complex and mature stories than what was around when I was a whippersnapper. --not that I'd go out of my way to watch any of them. American cartoons are STILL largely cartoons, geared to a less mature audience.

I remember Vampire Hunter D. It reminded me of Splatterhouse on Genesis. It had a really good song at the end.

I'm a huge fan of City Hunter and Kinnikuman, in part because Akira Kamiya's voice acting is brilliant. And if 90s counts as 'old', Shoujo Kakumei Utena absolutely tops my favourite old anime list! It's the kind of series that gains depth every time you re-watch it.

I guess my favorite old anime that I can remember is Cyborg 009 as it was more or less my introduction to anime. After that, it's Mobile Suit Gundam 0079. Then of course SDF-Macross. Personally, I prefer old anime over new anime as new anime... is tooooooooooooooooooooooooo stereotyped in a bad way.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock! Always! Adapted to anime in 1978. Though a very close second goes to Macross, Slayers (kinda old, kinda not), and Magic Knight Rayearth. Favorite neo-classic anime? Sorcerous Stabber Orphen. So beautiful! T_T I also kinda get an "Ys-esque" vibe off of it. Can't say who it reminds me of, but I do! Maybe Hugo Fact? Dark Fact? Gotta be.

The first I watched and was a fan of was Speed Racer. Then came Saint Seiya, Harlock, Dragonball, and Fist of the North Star.

Iām a 90ās child so I watched a lot of Toonami. Some of my favorite shows that I still check out once in a while today are: DBZ, Ronin Warriors (Samurai Troopers), Sailor Moon, Kikaider the Animation, Rurouni Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo, Fushigi Yuugi, G Gundam, .hack//SIGN, and Marmalade Boy.
Not sure if some of those are considered old now or not. ^^āā
