Well, I finally managed to "beat" Kishgal on Nightmare today. I ended up leveling to 30, though my first "good" attempt came at level 27 (if anyone's wondering, Kishgal's damage output didn't decrease a bit; I just leveled to be able to deal him decent damage with the Earth skill). Ironically, the victory was actually a no damage one, but that was partially due to not getting boxed in by the icicles (my main trouble). I'm still quite inconsistent overall, but as Red Hairdo had said in another topic, the fight really does grow on you after a while, frustrating though it often is.
Red found the skill recharge reduction helpful, and from what I witnessed in his video, it might be - but personally, I played the battle a lot more safe, so I'm not sure it made too much difference for me (I got all the SP blessings - I abused the Nightmare Arena mode drop formula to get more than 1 SP). If anything, I actually found the "Increase movement speed" blessing helpful (though of course a normal Nightmare player probably won't have that kind of SP). While I can't really tell if it actually makes Yunica move faster, I did notice afterwards I was able to more consistently dodge his icicle rain attack, something I initially had trouble with (then again, maybe I just wasn't doing it right at first). Of course, the most important thing is recognizing his patterns, and while I feel like I understand them fairly well, all too often a couple of stray shots will catch me, and then it's usually downhill from there.
As for my grind spot, I used a different one than Red did (I tried his, and it just seemed slower - in part because I was still collecting SP crystals for 1/3 of a level). I used the area between the teleport trap and the corridor outside the room where you initially find Rico (not the bat room, the one outside that). There's 11 enemies there, and two charged Wind skills can usually take them all out in 8-9 seconds (granted, I needed to use the MP speed recovery potions pretty often to not get slowed, plus I had the SP blessing to reduce MP cost at level 3 to also help). Doing this, I was able to get ~7,500 EXP per hour, which is about the amount for the mid-20 levels.
Anyway, a very challenging - yet fun - fight, and I must admit I too am a little sad to be moving on. I'll be sure to keep a save around for this, though (plus, I want to eventually see if over-leveling enough can cause Genocide mode to activate, if it exists in YsO - if it does, I figure it can't be too far off).
