Change your system Locale to Japanese, that fixes all the problems.

Are you sure your game was indeed patched, by picking the correct directory? People experience the same problem as you when they play the game in Japanese.
Some people reportedly applied the patch in the wrong directory, as well, and thus ended up in a situation such as this one. So I find this possibility probable.

I have a problem too. After I've beat Dalles (as Yunica), Rhea plays harmonica and... black screen. >.< Windows 7.

Well guys this game is really buggy on Windows 7, I mean even the original game is really buggy. I played the game and tested the patch over Win / 64 bit edition and I experinced random crashes and other things. Unfortuntaly ( or fortuntaley) they are not patch related. Just think that Origin was a 32 bit applicationa dn on 64 bit edition is really crappy. I suggest you to play on Windows XP....

The crashes don't happen often enough to make it unplayable in Win 7 64, what I never thought to try is to run it in compatability mode for Win XP, might be worth a shot. As Doppia says it's the original game that has these issues, I had them before the patch as well, if I was trying to beat the game on nightmare mode it might have been more irritating, but on normal the bosses are easy enuff so it's not soemthing I'd throw my keyboard across the room about.

It happened to me only once, but I did crash one time. On Vista. This might help. Perhaps it could even work as a solution for the people having texture problems?

what I never thought to try is to run it in compatability mode for Win XP, might be worth a shot. It doesn't help, it still crashes more often than running YsO on an actual WinXP machine (or maybe Vista 32 bit). Exchanging emails with Doppi makes me agree that it's likely a memory management issue, most likely YsO is accidentally overlaying memory since its not native to the 64-bit addressing schema used by Win 7. What you'll notice is that after the first crash (usually after 7-8 room changes for me), it'll crash more often after that (maybe every 5-6 room changes). I'm thankful for the automatic saving after every room change so at least too much progress isn't lost. I haven't tried my other Falcom titles since I got a new machine with Win 7, but I'm a little nervous now.

Hmmm... The odd thing about this is that Yakra owns a 64-bit Windows 7 Laptop, yet doesn't experience crashings (or does she?)... Very odd. I liked you guys' conclusion, too. Interesting. Edit: ...Couldn't it perhaps depend on the graphics card + Win7 OS + YsO? Edit 2: Just confirmed, Yakra NEVER had her YsO crash. The specs are the ones I mentioned above. (The only time it did crash was when she "closed" her laptop while the game was running, but THAT much is expected.)

Weird, I'm running Origin (XP version 1.1.0.0 with English patch and appLocale) on my win7 x64 desktop and I have no crashes. Only thing I get is missing textures on the first boss, and the outside of the Rado building. The appLocale program fixes the textures errors. I'm also running on a very high resolution (2048X1152). I did have it at the default res, but some of the letters seemed to overlap a little, and I saw one portion of text run off screen. When I went to my video card settings(2048x1152), the game looked better, and the font was much more clearer, and no run off, as of yet. Just my experience.

I really hope I don't crash actually. (You guys' tales are making me fear me YsO crashing after beating final bosses or so. X'D Now that would be a bit 'argh!') I'm running Vista version YsO on my Windows 7 laptop, no applocale, as Red Hairdo mentioned. Unlike most of you guys though, I just installed the patch without updating to 1.1.0.3 (so I'm still 1.1.0.0). It sounds like hashiriyaz and my situation are exactly the same. I've experienced only exactly those things - missing textures on Velagunder and Rado's Annex (though I at first mistook it to be simply just VERY shiny bright. X"D) and the odd text running off when playing at the original resolutions (I ended up reporting that to ye in a PM, doppiapunta. Sorry. Somehow, each time I tried to mail you, my mail just wouldn't go through.).

That makes 3 with no crashes, on win 7 64 using the xp version with the 1.1.0.0 patch(not the 1.1.0.3 one), so maybe it's the 1.1.0.3 patch that's causing issues on win 7?

1.1.0.3 works fine on my Vista 32 Bits at least. No texture problems and stuff, either. (Although I'm playing on a Japanese-set PC.)

I'm on my fifth attempt or so at installing it.
Specs: Windows 7 x64 3.0 GHz Intel Core2Duo 8GB RAM 1GB ATI Radeon HD 5750
I install the game (original XP release) from the disc (1.0.0.0), then patch it with the Data Disc (1.1.0.0), then apply the English Patch (pointing it to C:\FALCOM\YSO_WIN, it does not detect the installation directory, if it's supposed to).
I end up with a half-translated game.. the config program is not translated (one of the times I installed, it was..), the options menu is translated (except for the text at the bottom), all of the Item Names are translated, but some of the descriptions aren't (for example, the shell isn't) and the character select screen is untranslated.
I have absolutely no idea what's going on..

You are aware there are 3 mirror files for the patch, right? Try using the patch from MediaFire instead and see if it does the trick.
