Eh, yeah, it does remind one of Ys. XD But that and Ys aren't the only ones with that kind of prologue...
But yeah, I guess this is worth mentioning. xD

Wow, I wasn't expecting such a close similarity to the Ys story there.

It's nice to see Zelda make a hommage to one of its biggest "competitors".

I was going to give it the benefit of the doubt at first, but yeah, at the part where the "Goddess sends the power away in a floating island in the sky to escape the demons on earth" seems all too familiar... : )
Still, can't wait to play this! I need to invent time, or rather, time flavored ice cream.

As a big fan of Zelda,I see Miyamoto san always referring to Ys in Zelda´s games. Look at to the SNES Zelda, and Ocarina of Time.XDDDD And we ´ve got it in Spain,at Wii Ware. It´s curious, because here,we only have got The Ark of Napyshtim.

its cool to me I've always seen Ys to be the superiour rival to Zelda...
but my theory on Zelda is unique, since its called "The LEGEND of Zelda" basically your hearing the legend told by different people and each person has thie own little add on or tie in... because a unified timeline in the Zelda series is just stupid since most of the games pretty much repeat the last game or only a couple have continuity.

I personally have always seen Ys and Zelda as two completely different game series... The only thing they have in common, for me, is that they are ARPGs. As a big fan of Zelda,I see Miyamoto san always referring to Ys in Zelda´s games. Look at to the SNES Zelda, and Ocarina of Time.XDDDD Ummm... are there any Ys references in those or anything even remotely similar...? ' I played both of those games many times extensively over the course of time and Ys never even once crossed my mind upon playing them...

Yup. In Ys IV there is an Ocarina that looks exactly to the Ocarina of Time. At SNES Zelda´s,Link rescue Zelda, and Zelda goes with him.In Ys Vanished Adol rescue Feena, and Feena goes with him. XD Navi protects Link, and Dogi protects Adol. Adol is as innocence as Link is. In Ys there are 2 godesses. In Zelda there are 3. Tera´s name looks like Tetra. Ganondorf is man corrupted by evil,Dark Fact is a man corrupted by evil.

Um... Feena only goes with Adol on the remakes (the first one came out in 1998, Zelda SNES came in 1990 or so).
"Dogi protects Adol"...? I... can't say it's wrong, but um, that's way too vague? At best, one could say Navi and Dogi are companions, but even then, to say it's an Ys reference, that's a bit too much...
I don't think Adol (nor Link) are innocent, personally... It seems that's how you see them, but I personally don't think it's the case. (And even otherwise, two characters sharing a personality trait as common as that isn't something I'd call a reference... That way millions of other games could be considered to have Ys references.)
Um, "Goddess" is an extremely common thing in JRPGs since very very long ago... It dates back to a few thousands of years, even, actually: The Greek and others told many stories involving Goddesses and whatnot.
Etc..
I think both series just share somewhat comparable genres. That's what I would say, personally. Not anything beyond. But that's just me.

I read 1st Ys came in 1987,and Zelda in 1986(Anyway,I love both, and don´t care about it =P). About Adol and Dogi,I based on the anime: Adol is so innocent, and Goban sent Dogi to protect him, what Dogi explains Adol is his destiny.
And,in the manga,Link is innocent,too.
About Godesses I don´t really know.^^u
I´m new to Ys,so...I´m just based on things that I looking on webs,to know more about it. XD
