Hello! I encountered something very strange playing Felghana today... I was coming down the sloping path after seeing Nicholas in Valestein Castle (before fighting Zellfel). At the bottom of the slope, instead of a normal Farighva there was a strangely coloured one - partly red, like a normal Farighva, but mostly blue. I killed it off and my reward was several large coins.
Has anyone experienced this before? I've played the game a lot and can't say I've ever seen something like this before... :s

This might occur more frequently depending on your difficulty setting. This is one of the things that has actually carried on from Ys VI to future and present Ys games.

... Wow, this is the first time I hear of this! Maybe that enemy can appear again even after killed? And, was there anything similar in Ys VI? (The best I can think of is... the weakest pig monsters the bird monsters drop: VERY rarely a pig monsters full of rocks or so would appear, and it dropped many more Emels than normal.)

It's moreso that on Hard/Nightmare, they would flash colors (Red, Blue, Yellow) in Ys VI, based on weapon weaknesses, occasionally appearing black (no weakness, almost impenetrable defense) or white (no weakness, high defense). They also boast more powerful attacks, and drop a LOT of Emel and Gold!

No no, I mean something else entirely: on that area before the bridge connecting the two main islands of Canaan, there are some bird monsters who drop these pig monsters. But VERY rarely they would drop a different-looking pig (different texture and everything) which did not flash at all. Its skin was... different. It appeared even on Normal, where there are no coloured enemies. And that pig in particular dropped more goodies. I think it could also be dropped by the birds on the plains before the mountain dungeon (I forgot its name) and Limewater Cave. Also, I have seen black-flashing enemies only in the Kishgal City on Nightmare, when fighting the sub-bosses in there (some black enemies would be there to get in the way, and not present any weakness since there is no Black Emelas weapon for Adol to use). But these were the only times I have seen it. Can they appear anywhere else? Also, enemies flashing in white, really? Is it at random like the blue/red/yellow enemies? I'd love seeing them out there.

As far as white is concerned, I really don't remember. It's been a long time. HOWEVER! I do recall fighting those little squirrel enemies in the VERY beginning of the game, and one of them had indeed turned black! The fact that their appearance was so rare for you is a big surprise to me, because I must've fought at least one black enemy in every major area. // Also, I know what you're talking about now! The armored boar type enemies. I believe that in all actuality, if you kill enough boar-like enemies in the woods (see, I can't even recall place names at this point) -- then the boar type enemies you'll face from the mountains will occasionally be dropped by the bird type enemies. This response to your query is all shamefully vague. I'm sorry. I'm sure *you* know what I'm talking about, at least.

I can't really comment about the YsF enemy, except to say I've never noticed anything like that (but then again, I don't pay a lot of attention to the Bestiary in recent games).
Regarding Ys VI, my memory's a bit fuzzy, but I think Red Hairdo is right regarding the colored enemies - that is, no white ones, and the black ones are only with the mid-bosses in Kishgal. As far as encountering black enemies in the beginning of the game (and elsewhere), are you sure you're not confusing them for blue enemies before you're given Livart? I know that happens to me quite often, but I think once I got Livart, that issue cleared up (again, my memory's fuzzy on this).

No, actually; I'm 100% sure black enemies appear all over the place! Believe me, I know that blue can, at times, be confused with black -- but in Ys VI, the difference was VERY clear to see! Perhaps it *also* varies depending on the version of VI -- PC/PSP/PS2. I just remember that on Nightmare, blacks were very frequent. Didn't Hard simply incorporate colors?

Ah, I had no idea they could occur quite frequently. Maybe I've just not noticed them before. I can't say I recall ever seeing them in YsVI, but if they were that frequent then I may never have realised there was anything special about them. Cheers dudes, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled

When I saw the black enemies in Kishgal, it was only on Nightmare, PS2 USA version. They died once the sub-boss was killed. That's all I recall. I'll be more observant on my next playthroughs. White-coloured enemies would be somewhat logical at least, because White Emelas and Grey Emelas (or was it just grey? I forgot) do exist, just like how there is Black Emelas (and thus black-coloured enemies).
