I'm afraid it's not working for me either. I have the Win 7 DVD version, running Win7 Pro OS. I see in the patch.log that it modified the right files (see attached), but the config and game are still in Japanese. Attachments:

Woohoo, two awesome translations finished within a month or so. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved!
Regarding Little Miss Scholar, she is a CHAR! Sadly, she doesn't turn red and run around three times faster than the main character at any point.

Could anyone upload a mirror? Since Figli di Gaucci doesn't want people to register on their site and access it...

I'm afraid it's not working for me either. I have the Win 7 DVD version, running Win7 Pro OS. I see in the patch.log that it modified the right files (see attached), but the config and game are still in Japanese. Yep, it definitely doesn't work with the latest DVD version of the game. I got exactly the same patch log, but the files stay in Japanese. I had to go through other means to play the game with the patch, which is shame but I paid a lot of money for my copy! I hope they can sort it soon because a lot of people are going to be buying the latest version from Falcom now to play with the patch, only to realise it doesn't work! Other than that though, the translation itself is great.

Erm, what, so this translation will only work on a pirated version of the game?

Erm, what, so this translation will only work on a pirated version of the game? It works with older versions of the game it seems. Maybe it works with mine as well and I'm doing something wrong. But Alyindar has the same version and same problems.

By the way, the version of the DVD-ROM copy is 1.0.2.0
I think the translation only patches up to 1.0.1.4

I see in the patch.log that it modified the right files (see attached), but the config and game are still in Japanese. I have a solution for you Alyindar, and for anyone else with the latest retail version. Download the patch on this page (link at the bottom, called xn_1014.zip(2.21MB)): www.falcom.co.jp/xanadu_next/support/download.htmlCopy it to the X_NEXT folder, open it and it will patch backwards to 1.0.1.4 Then apply the English patch and hey presto! You may need to do a fresh install though. Just uninstall it and start again. Tancients, would it be possible to add this info to the readme file?

I can pass the information along, though it might be easier to simply update the patch to support Xanadu Next's newest version. Will let gho know, though would probably need the 1.0.2.0 exe to see.

Thanks for the idea turniphead, I'll give it a try tonight! Tancients, I'd be happy to help out with testing v1.0.2 if you want to pass it on. I've only played through the first dungeon since I know this project was nearing completion, so I'm really excited to give this one a spin. Thanks to the crew who's made it possible! (even Wyrd and "Red Squirrel" who laid some of the early groundwork )

So I was able to play a bit of it, despite being a mac user, using Parallels. The translation is flawless. The storyline seems a bit bland, but for an hack'n'slash that's not really a problem. My issue is that there is no sound effect whatsoever. And yes, I did double check the configuration menu ... Anyone can tell me if there is any kind of sound or ? Music is working (and is beautiful to hear). Thanks in advance. EDIT: Nevermind, I reinstalled it, saves didn't get deleted BTW, and instead of Hardware I chose Standard in sound (in the config exe) Thanks again for this wonderful translation

Yeah I figured a bit of it. Didn't have much time, only played the first dungeon in town to get to lv2, but the gameplay is fun as hell Only tidbits I know are from Faxanadu (even if it was just a sidestory to Dragon Slayer II: Xanadu developed by Hudson Soft) are the Dragon Slayer, health potions, keys, magic (fire thunder death..) and the "go into that dungeon, kill mobs and the boss, return" haha I'll play tomorrow, I'm gonna watch a movie before sleeping for now Enjoy dudes

I've been quite impressed by the story so far. I'm extremely impressed by the quality of the translation.
