Did you get the hammer (not the magic artifact)? You need to go to the cracked pipe -- the one where the music comes from -- and then use it.

Make sure you have the Roda Fruit. Enter the Devil's Corridor with full health and run like hell to the first opening to the right. Feed the Roo. Get the hammer. Heal up by just standing next to the Roo (since it's a balcony, your HP will replenish when you stand) and go back to the balcony with pipes. Use the hammer @ the pipe that makes a strange sound. You may now go through Devil's Corridor safely.

I believe the Roda Fruit is before the fight with Toal. You need to backtrack to the point where you fought Toal (and where Yunica battles Kishgal), or to be more precise -- several rooms back:
TOAL ARENA --> SAVE POINT --> LEDGES/PLANKS ROOM --> BIG ROOM. In this big room, you need to put the mask of Eyes on and a bridge will show up that'll lead you to a platform you need to step on. Go through, step on the platform and you'll see that the chest to the far left is now accessible due to the step leading to it being lowered.
AS FOR the game availability in USA/EU, you should ask Wyrdwad. He's a translator for XSEED (I think) and he might know why the company he works for released only the PSP versions of the Ys games, omitting the PC releases. To me, as a devoted PC gamer, this is an issue, but what the hell, man. I think companies just don't think PC gaming counts any more.

Again mucho thak wesker! now ill be able to go back there:)
As for the pc, i still think that pc gaming should not be this closed to other country! Let me explain:
you want to have a certain game ( let say here a game from the Y's serie) but its not available in north America ( and lets say here in Canada),but you know you would have a gaming fan community there...
Why not instead, make the game available via a downloading platford like a torrent thinngy( utorrent, bittorrent...) in english, legaly purchased via the net...
Ive learned that ( and sorry if i am wrong here..) in Japan, there is a law or something like that that prevent company to release some game or something like that to other country....
To me , this suck BIG time! Look what happen sometime: people purchased a said game legaly, do a translation and then release it on the net illegaly.
Well i could rant a long time but this is not the place hehehe:)
Again thank you Wesker:)

Sad fact is that gaming industry is business (quite big one too), and in business its money that talks (as in pretty much everywhere). And now it seems that PC games just are not profitable anymore. Just look around. Where are the companies that still make awesome PC games? There aren't much anymore. Falcom used to be one, but they had to quit it and move to PSP (which I don't actually like at all since I think handhelds are the worst gaming platform for Ys like games). Why no PC anymore? I don't really know but some say it is because of piracy. PC is also quite complicated system as one PC is so much different from another. And a good gaming PC eats a whole bunch of money too. PC just isn't a popular gaming platform anymore. I don't know how big issues all these are, but we can see the sad result. And I asume both Falcom and XSEED are quite small companies, so they can't really risk putting too much effort on single games or multiplatforming. Maybe some with more knowledge knows better why things are as they are.

actually, i think big compagny like Falcom or other like it, should do 2 thing:
1) release the game on the pc platform but via download (legaly of course) 2) do a port game for other console.
As for the y's handeld version, i have the y's for the ds... hate it!

You need to undo Dalles' petrification spell. Galleon will then give you the medallion.
To undo the petrification spell, you need to: have the faux Black Pearl which is given to you by Toal on a deadend balcony somewhere, as well as a Dreaming Idol (I don't remember who had that, but you needed to talk to someone about it). After you get both items, visit Feena @ Rado's Annex and she'll combine the two items for you and charge the idol. Get back to where the petrified knights are and use the Idol. They will be unpetrified and Galleon will give you the medallion.

actually, i think big compagny like Falcom or other like it, Yeah, Falcom's not a big company... Also, they don't have a PC division any longer. Know why? It's no longer profitable. I'm sorry to hear that. That you have the DS game that is because of course it sucks and you're right to hate it. That's why Falcom ported I-II to the PSP themselves and did it properly.

Excuse me, but what about Ys 7 for the PC? I heard it's in the works... and that means there must be a PC division that makes sure this gets released.

Ys Seven, Zero and Ao no Kiseki) are Chinese ports. Falcom provides the materials, the Chinese company does all the legwork. Falcom's not releasing the games in Japanese.

ah man!!!!! i still think compagny like that should have a data base where they actually DO a game for the pc only downloadable... so you could save on the plastic for the dvd and the box, but also on the paper for the instruction and the cover art! But i have to say, im an old school gamer so i do like to have the box art... and would be willing to pay an extra just to hgave it!
i have to admit one thing, i did purchase the y's ds game for one thing, the soundtrack that came with it! only one thing that pissed me off, was if i listen from the cd, its all screw up, always skipping; rip it and listen to it on windows media player, or winamp... now where talking:)
And to finish, if i had a compagny, i would produce game that do have lots of language option: french, english, japanese, spanish...
what do you think?

That's a nice idea, but I think doing the translation takes time and money. Maybe for a game like Ys, it's not big deal, but the more text, the more work. And more languages also means more staff, since I don't believe a lot of people are trilingual or higher. Also games aren't necessarily popular across regional borders, so maybe that takes a toll on the possible profit as well. I think European releases are the most difficult to obtain of the 3 major regions for that reason. On top of that, English is the de-facto world language and sadly I think that is often sited (for English releases) as "good enough".
That being said, it's fun to turn on Loco Roco and pick a one of the other languages just for funzies.
