I bought and am currently enjoying Ys Origin and Oath in Felghana through Steam, so I got a friend of mine to lend out his physical copies of Ys I & II Complete and Ys VI on PC to me. I already know of Complete's 640x480 resolution cap, so that isn't a big deal, but my question is if I'd be able to get Ys VI to run in true widescreen, unlike the stretched widescreen I get if I select my monitor's resolution (1920x1080) from Ys VI's configuration. I know that XSEED got that to work for Oath and Origin, so I was wondering if it'd be feasible for anyone to replicate that functionality for VI, seeing as how all three games share an engine. Thanks for your time, and I apologize if this has already been discussed or comes off as incredibly stupid.

It's been debated, yes... And it has been done I think for YsF and YsO before the Steam versions were out, except it didn't work for sprites (like character artwork). But not Ys VI. Sadly. But if you dig up the YsF and YsO sections of the forum, in case you really are determined, you might find something. I can't guarantee though.

Actually VI was the first one I did it for IIRC. The thread about it is 6 threads under this one.
Like Red said character artwork and hud are still stretched. I'm certain it could be hacked to fix that without editing the graphics but I have since become involved in other projects and no longer have the motivation to do it. Perhaps one day.
PS Red you posted in that thread.

PS Red you posted in that thread. When I first read this, I thought to myself: "Wait a minute.... I thought that the Ys Widescreen modes were made by a different guy, someone named Sephirothnh." Then I saw by highlighting your name that Xalphenos = Sephirothnh. Cool! I feel like I started getting to know you better as the Goomba, completely blew my mind that you were the one who brought us these wonderful patches before changing your name. Great job again on all of these. : ) -Thomas

Yeah I felt it was time for a change. SephirothTNH was my old, very old, Diablo II guild name from when it first came out. TNH = The New Horadrim I also wanted something of my own devising instead of one of the millions of Sephiroth variations all over the internet. VII was never even my favorite FF anyway.
And Thanks.
