What about 5? // Oh wait, you probably meant as far as the PC versions are concerned.

Will pick it up when it's on sale maybe.
I can't believe they made it possible though, to have the Chronicles features with Complete's resolution and framerate.

Definitely more excited about this than I would have expected, seeing how I've already got something like half a dozen copies of Ys I-II based on the Eternal engine alone. The combination of Complete functionality and Chronicles features on the other hand is a pretty clear winner. I've been waiting for these two game to show up on Steam now all we need is the rest of the Ys series on Steam Unlikely to happen unless they decide to use the Ys VI LE disc and put the emulated versions of IV (MotS) and V up on Steam. Celceta would require porting and there isn't a newer version of V yet (and when it does exist it's probably going to be a Vita/PS3 game).

Konami probably owns the distribution rights for 6 so it probably won't happen. I would love to be wrong though.

I never knew Konami used to own the rights to Ys VI.

Likely only for the PS2 and PSP ports. Most likely not for the PC version.
Therefore, I think it's perfectly possible that Ys VI on PC might eventually get translated and brought over to Steam by XSEED. The only thing I can see preventing this from happening is that XSEED might fear doing so won't pay off the investment of paying for the game's translation/buying an already-existent translation of Ys VI.

Falcom still clearly owns the rights to the PC game since they've been selling it directly since the day it was released and just announced a Win8 version. Konami just has rights to the PS2/PSP ports.

I wonder if they'd have to redo... oh yeah, nevermind. The PC version of Napishtim didn't have VA. But that still leaves Gurumin -- will they have to redo the VA for that, can they buy it, will they have to hire new VAs, or does it come with the licensing?

Maybe they could keep the JP voices? But yeah, I wonder how that'd be handled.
I do know though that even if Mastiff's script is used, the Pleasure (and thus Crazy) Modes would still have to be translated, as they weren't by Mastiff. (I wonder, though, if Falcom removed the script changes in those modes for their PSP port themselves. But in any case, the PC version would have yet to be translated on that.)

I don't like the blurry boss battles. Other than that, this version is the best.

I don't like the blurry boss battles. Other than that, this version is the best. Yeah. That's just in Chronicles mode and is a result of how the scaling is done there, since it zooms the screen out for them. It's either scale it a bit blurry or scale it in a really ugly pixelated way. I'm looking at alternatives.
