Hi guys, As the title's thread says, I can't run Ys VI on my laptop. This is what happens: - I install the game in the directory "C:\\FALCOM\\YS6_WIN" - When I'm going to run it, it does nothing. It's like I'm not even running the game, and also it doesn't pop-up a new window with "Error!" or saying me why I can't even run it. It's the Windows 7 version (1.2.1.0) and my laptop also has Windows 7 (as it says the thread's title ). I can play on this laptop Xanadu Next fine and every Ys game that XSEED has released on Steam to date. I also tried Doppiapunta & co's English patch and still gives me the same error . Any suggestions guys? Thanks

I don't own the PC version of the game, but if it's anything like Falcom's other PC titles, it probably requires Japanese mode to run. No clue if that'd be the issue here or not, though.

Well, I have the Ys VI XP version, and the problem Matron is having sounds exactly like the problem I had running XP Ys VI on Windows 7. Doppi's patch wouldn't work at first either. I used Falcom's support patch 1.1.0.9. falcom.com/ys6/support/s_prg_02.htmlThen it worked and I was able to install the English patch properly. Like Korzic said, I also use Japanese mode. I wrote a detailed report about it on my blog: gamemusicfreak.blogspot.com/2011/08/running-xp-Ys-oath-in-felghana-and-Ys.html You can see my settings as well. I know we have different versions of Ys VI, but your problem sounds just like mine, so I thought I'd make this post to try to help. If this doesn't help in some way, I'm unsure of what to do. Keep trying, though, I didn't give up, and found a solution that worked for me. (on windows 8 as well) Perhaps you could even try e-mailing Falcom about it if nothing else works.

Hi it sounds like what happens to me on my laptop when i do not run it in Japanese Unicode mode it acts like nothing is even there i get no messages or anything saying i cannot run it. Just to make sure have you tried changing your laptop to these settings? it may be all you need. All the japanese falcom games seem to require it i do not have any of the steam releases only the authentic PC import ones and they all need it
i hope we are able to help chris

IT'S WORKING First of all: I was able to run the game with AppLocale. This was weird because I was able to run Xanadu Next fine without it. That, and it only runned in Japanese. I did everything GMF said and it worked fine without AppLocale...but with no Time Attack! So I did the same... but with support patch 1.2.0.2 and that version of doppiapunta & co patch and now it works like charm without AppLocale AND Time Attack! Yesssssssssssssssssssssss And now I'm going to kick some bosses asses while listening MIGHTY FRIGGIN' OBSTACLE as BGM Thanks guys

In many, many ways, Ys VI is my favorite Ys game of all time.

I'm so glad I did that writeup. I was proud of it. I don't usually write about technical things like that, since I lack skill in that area. But it came out of trying to get Ys VI to run on Win 7 for months.
I'll never forget sitting at a Kinko's computer late one night. I decided to search for new Ys stuff for no particular reason, and saw that Ys VI was coming out. There was a screenshot of Adol fighting the first boss, and I totally freaked out! It was then I decided that it was finally time to get my first computer. Matron starting this thread has made me want to play it again now. Rules VI.

Yeah, I feel like it, too! If I organize my own time better, I just might! Something Gurumin-like in insanity, even. That is, all difficulty + boss rush, then why not boss ruish records! And bugs etc. etc. etc.. If it has "V" and "I", it rules. Ys IV/VI Rules!
