Excellent news, now I won't have to bust my eyes with the japanese text. Now, if Falcom could remake Brandish 2 to have that awesome trailer come true(NFB!).

I have loved Brandish since I imported it on SFC, and Dark Revenant has been a favorite on PSP for a few years now. It's great to hear that XSEED is localizing it this long after the initial release, though. I've often said that localization companies should be mining the import catalogs for great games we may have missed, including this, Sol Trigger, Nayuta no Kiseki, etc. XSEED has become quite the savior on handhelds.

Now, once this is done, let's port the translation over to the TurboGrafx version, & I'll be an even happier camper! Seriously though, Tom, if someone offered to hack the Turbo version, would you(or Xseed) have a problem with using your script? I'm going to guess there's more text & such in the PSP version, but still, it seems like in general it could be used unless the PSP one GREATLY veers away from the original source material??

I doubt it would be usable without a LOT of finagling, honestly. Earlier versions of the games used very differently-structured text boxes, as opposed to Dark Revenant's standard 3-line dialogue windows. Matching the old text to the new text could prove fairly time-consuming, since it's split up so differently. It's theoretically possible, but you might be better off just retranslating the game on TurboGrafx.
Also, officially, we absolutely couldn't condone using our script for any other version of the game... but I doubt we'd issue a C&D or anything. We'd probably just disavow all knowledge of it or something.

I just played Nayuta no Kiseki some more last night, and I really believe XSEED would have good reason to bring it over digitally as long as Brandish does well enough to continue the trend. It's independent from other Kiseki titles, plays a lot like Ys, and offers visual armor customization that RPG players love so much these days. I also enjoy the season-shifting mechanic and complex boss battles. Really fun stuff...

Offhand, I don't know of anyone that's offered to translate that game, but being a Turbo & Falcom nut, I'd love all the Falcom games on the Turbo to be translated someday...
