Hey there,
So after Afternoon Hero didn't do so well I have decided to work on a new game. (I am still gonna update and market Afternoon Hero, but it's on the side).
My next game is going to be a 1v1 fighter game like street fighter. I already made a 1v1 game called Concussion Boxing but it was really lacking in gameplay. In CB the characters were just too slow and there weren't any combos or defense. It was just uninteresting gameplay wise.
In the new fighting game I plan on having 4 characters and 4 locations at first. The first issue is that I want the characters to be from my previous games so there might be characters who are half the height of other characters. Is it possible to design a fighter game when some of the character are half the height of other characters?
This time I want the fighting to be much faster and more "fantasy like". With longer range attacks and "flying in the air" attacks and jumps.
The controls would be left, right, crouch, jump, punch and kick. While walking back would also function as block(like in street fighter). I might take inspiration from Virtua Fighter as well but that game is a lot more subtle in it's gameplay than Street Fighter. In a way that it's a bit more realistic and have more depth(in my opinion). But making a virtua fighter like gameplay seems to be a lot harder.
So what do you think? What designing tips do you have?
