That's what I'm thinking as well. Getting a PS Vita seems more and more tempting now.

Ahhh! That makes two reasons to want a Vita! I'm super excited!

Hmm, wondering if I should make this a reason to get a PS4.

Will probably double dip for PS4 and Vita.

In looking at the trailer it shows the region of Xandria, which I believe was the setting for Ys 5. So is this the final remake of the original games? Sadly, it's a brand new game. In the trailer, it says the game takes place in different place. We will probably have to wait til 2017 for the final remake.

It says it's in the Goethe Sea in the trailer. I have that written out in the article on my site as well. There's a bunch of little islands in the sea north of Xandria. That would be the archipelago I mention in the article.

This is very exciting news! I still don't have a Vita yet, but I do own the Collector's Edition of Celceta for Vita, so I'll probably get the PS Vita version of this since I foresee having that system long before a PS4... But it is mighty tempting to get a PS4 just for this and Uncharted 4...and Bloodbourne...
I guess it also depends on how different the resolution will be between the versions and what kind of limited edition packaging each version(s) would receive. : )

Wa~! This was the best news to wake up to! I hardly imagined a new Ys would come out this soon! (I mean, I thought one would go through a few more years worth of Kisekis before another Ys game would be announced - no offence meant to the awesomeness of the Kisekis.) Hadn't Falcom been declaring earlier (last year?) that they wanted to do another... remake? Or am I imagining things up. And completely unrelated to my extreme joy at this amazing news - se7ensword, where is the amazing artwork in your signature from?

From Pixiv! Here is the image: More importantly, It seems characters from previous Ys games will also appear. Probably some of the Ys V cast like Terra, and probably Dogi. gematsu.com/2014/09/Ys-next-30-percent-completeInterestingly the Goethe sea is at south Glia/Gria and according to the map, the closest place to it is the Celceta region.

I wonder what the artwork will be like? I also heard that Ys Seven & Celceta would come to PC. That's good news for Steam.

I wonder if Adol's shield will return after YsC, for instance.
I also wonder if that title will have DLC. Didn't the latest saga of Kiseki games, Zen no Kiseki (both games) have DLC? The second one I'm sure it did... I certainly hope there won't be anything like "Adol Swimsuit DLC".
Some form of multiplayer would be interesting, too, I think, but I'm personally not expecting to see that happening, considering, for example, how Falcom supposedly had announced that for Ys Seven, but in the end didn't do it, and also didn't even bring that subject up for YsC either.

Sen no Kiseki, actually. It has DLC in the form of costumes and accessories, then it has a few additional extra items 'assist kits' and whatnot. However, the money that Falcom got from the DLC actually went in directly to Sen no Kiseki II to pad its budget and give more money into tightening character animations and lead way into more testing for the game. I know they didn't do it in Ys Seven because they had issues trying to balance out Adol comparatively to the rest of the cast for doing a local coop multiplayer mode. That's why Ys vs Sora no Kiseki was made, as an apology for bringing it up when they were unable to do what they said they'd do. I suspect it didn't go into Ys Celceta, because of the same issues. Balance does skew in favor of Adol in Celceta- and I'd probably say even moreso than it did in Ys Seven. They just took out Adol's completely overpowered and absolutely broken "I use all three attack types at once" sword that was in Ys Seven. Or maybe it is there, and I've not seen it yet. I don't know. You get what I'm saying anyway, right?

Yeah, I do. I did wonder about Ys vs. SnK's nature (although I wonder if they wouldn't have made it eitherway), and something like that did come across my mind.
In YsC, though, I'm personally just assuming they didn't do it, because I believe they thought it wouldn't really return much profit, and that it would be one hell of an investment for them. Making multiplayer work in a game like that in a fun way must not be easy.

Focus on the ocean, eh? Could this turn out to be the "WInd Waker" of the Ys series? The new art direction seems pretty good though his costume seems way too much like Celceta's for it to be taking place between 5 and 6. Wonder how the action system will change now...will we get proper Air Dashes, Enemy Steps and perhaps proper air combos or even a second attacking button?
