So I've been told that there are two leitmotifs. Or rather, I noticed one early on, and floofy told me about the other one, so now I've been sorta paying attention to both of them. Been playing through Trails in the Sky, albeit slowly, and so far I've completed three chapters and I'm just starting to head over to Zeiss.
LEITMOTIF 1: mi re mi so re; do _ti do mi _ti; etc.
Apparently this is the leitmotif of the game. Sounds strangely similar to the theme of Castle in the Sky. Can be in minor or major (apparently the "real" version is in minor? do ti do mi ti; la _so la do _so; etc.).
Shows up in the following tracks that I've heard so far:
title theme (track code 001) (in major)
prologue flashback scene (track code 408) (the very first cutscene in the game)
Joshua's harmonica tune (track code 500) (shortly after that very first cutscene)
credits theme "The Whereabouts of Light" (I haven't seen this yet but AFAIH it's basically a continuation of the Falcom logo jingle)
LEITMOTIF 2: (in a minor key) laitdo ti do re do re mi re do re, etc.
Floofy tells me this is the leitmotif of the series. It doesn't show up at the beginning of the game, but it's started to show up more often so suddenly I've returned to thinking about this now that I've completed the Ruan chapter. Shows up in the following tracks I've heard so far)
"Tower of the Four-Cycle" (track code 303) (the mysterious towers that dot Liberl, such as Esmelas Tower, first encountered in the Prologue chapter)
"Seaport City of Ruan" (track code 102) (around 00:47)
Jenis Royal Academy (track code 104, and apparently quite a long loop) (first shows up about half a minute in)
one of the themes in the Jenis school play (track code 537) (starts out with a "major-ized" third scale degree before reverting to minor)
the Black Orbment theme
final dungeon theme (which shows up in the trailer for this game, but I haven't gotten this far in the game yet)
Are there any I have missed so far, given where I am in the game?
